    .....and the utterly senseless carnage continues! :mad:

    What is so difficult about keeping these drunk drivers in prison and stop them from killing our kids? DWI should be a felony the first time they get caught and a murder or attempted murder charge the 2nd time.

    Nelson Ray Bridges II

    1954-2009

    Nelson Ray Bridges II, 55, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009.

    Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Paramount Baptist Deaf Church with Darrell Bonjour officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

    Mr. Bridges was born July 8, 1954, in Levelland to Imogene and Ray Bridges. He had worked as a fabricator in automotive.

    He was a member of Krankers Kar Klub and Paramount Baptist Deaf Church.

    Mr. Bridges married Brenda Beasley on July 7, 1977, in Canadian.

    Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bridges; two daughters, Kellye Bridges Flynn and husband Bradley and Ashley Bridges, all of Amarillo; two sons, Matthew Bridges and Andrew Bridges, both of Amarillo; his mother, Imogene Bridges of Lubbock; a brother, Chris Bridges and wife Wendy of Amarillo; two sisters, Beverly McClellan and husband Bob of Morton and Anita Somers and husband Randy of Lubbock; and two grandchildren, Barrett and Abram.

    Stupid people do stupid things. It's such a shame that an innocent good man lost his life do this guys carelessness.

    Deepest condolences to friends, family and loved ones during these tough times and beyond.

  23. I've known far too many people that have been killed by drunk or drugged drivers. Yet, these people get very lenient sentences, compared to when a murder occurs with a gun, knife, or bat. When someone dies because of the actions of a drunk, then DUI IS murder, and should be treated by the law and society as such. Drunkenness is not a "disease", it's a character flaw of weak-willed people that use the bottle as an excuse for what they are. I have known plenty of damn drunks, too. Throw the book at the bastard!

  26. I read most of this thread earlier before your post. I was just getting ready to post, hit the last page button and saw yours at the top of the page and thought..."that about sums it up"....

    condolences to all his friends and family. such a tragic loss.
