I was thinking of painting engine block the same color as the body. Has anyone ever used the same paint as body, mabey with a bit more hardener or some other additive. Biggest concern is the paint not being a high temperature paint can you make it that way by adding something.

I've used regular automotive paint on engines in cars and boats, it holds up just fine.

The trick is not to get to much build up with your product. You can lay down a coat of etch primer and then lay your colour on "wet on wet".
***uming you are using a two part system.

regular base/clear holds up just fine. Normally I clean and prep well, spray with some epoxy prime then shoot regular base/ clear. No extra hardner.
