I'm using a stock '40 axle and spindles W/ split wishbones. With the wishbones set level to the world there seems to be about 12 degrees of caster built into the wishbones. Is this what many of you have experienced? I've seen where caster has been increased by removing a wedge cut from the wishbone but don't recall seeing the opposite. I'm thinking about running it with the 12 degrees of caster but would that be a big mistake:confused: As always thanks to everyone for the responses. Craig W.

I am not sure on a '40 whether that's too much caster.......most early Fords call for 5-7 degrees of caster.........I'd double check that before running your tires with that much caster..........sounds like *dragster caster!*

On a stock '40 the wishbone doesn't sit "level with the world", it runs uphill so to speak (front to back). Check it at the angle it rides at stock and I'm sure you[ll find it in the 6-9 degree range. Running it at 12 will make it track really straight hands off but will take much more effort to turn.
