Folks Of Interest Another racing hero passed God Speed Parnelli Jones!

It is with great sadness I post that we have loose an another racing hero Parnelli Jones has p***ed away at the age of 90.

From the California Jalopies to midgets, Indy and beyond, God Speed Sir!

 

He could drive the wheels off anything. One of the only drivers AJ Foyt feared.

I had some hot rod cards as a kid, one was PJ at Pikes Peak. He is a true legend.

 

@Robert J. Palmer, thanks for the video. Mr. Jones was one of my heroes when I was a kid, still is. Not too many like him. The square edged tires he was running on, 0.40 in the video, makes me wonder what he could have done with today's technology.

 

I built recreation in 2008 of the 1960 San Diego supermodified championship car. Driven by Parnelli in early 1960 before he came to the Midwest to race sprint cars. I sent him pictures. 4 days later he called me. What a gentleman!!! Who else would take the time to do that? He said he would like to have the car but already had 25 cars he didn't know what he was going to do with.
