I doubt that any of you knew him, but Twisted Okie and I lost a friend Saturday to the big C. Verlin was a master mecanic. As Terry (Twisted Okie) said the other day, "you never worried about breaking down if you were running with Verlin because he could come up with ten different ways to get it fixed and back on the road". His pride and joy was a red 38 Chevy sedan which he was still driving to rod runs this summer even while battling bone cancer and leukemia. Verlin loved old cars and old car folks and will be missed by a bunch of us. Verlin was 62. Just a request that you will keep his family in your thoughts today and tell the people you care about what they mean to you. George
Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Please extend my condolences to his family, friends and of course Terry. My thoughts and prayers are with you today.
I feel your hurt, I lost a good friend to the big C last Feb. His 53 Chevy is still sitting in his garage. It never got finished but he did get to drive it some. My condolances.
Gordon, sorry to hear it. For those of you who didn;'t know. GV and Twisted Okie and a few other guys were trying to help a fellow hot rodder get his car done so he could see it completed before his terminal illness took it's toll. My prayers go out to the family.

A group of us got together to finish his car so he could enjoy it for as long as possible. While it's not a rod, it's still a very cool car; '67 Shelby GT500. Nothing like a dual-quad 428 with a 4-speed!
Our condolences to you and Verlin's family.I've lost count of the friends that have succumbed to cancer and those still battling it,myself included.Went to my class reunion 2 years ago(40th)and the, memory board"was way too large. They added 6 pictures to it in the preceding month all due to cancer. Reminds me of a saying I heard awhile ago:"What is really ironic about life is that you come into this world crying and the people all around you are smiling and when you leave this world you're smiling and those all around you are crying". Again my condolences George. Ray aka safariknut
Thanks everyone, Just to set the record straight I had very little to do with the work on Verlins other car (Chopped 50 Olds) but the folks that did deserve all the praise. Thanks for the mention Root but I don't want to take credit for something I had very little to do with. The Olds was purchased by Verlin from another friend who died suddenly a number of years ago. Now Verlins gone. I know of several folks who may end up with the car and hopefully it will get finished. It is going to be a beautiful sled. Again, thanks for the kind and supportive words, I will pass them along. George
George - Good post on Verlin. He was one of a kind. I miss him terribly now. But I'll really miss him next year when its time to go to the rod runs. A lot of the shows, it was just me and Verlin that would go. I could always depend on him to go with me. We normally didn't do much after we got to the shows except sit, relax and solve the worlds problems. (You know we had a lot of them solved.) Verlin - God Bless you. And when you see my Dad, please tell him that I love him. ~ Terry
I visited with him, never knew his name, but talked to him at a Starbird show downtown OKC. sorry to hear about him passing, He was a cool guy. Course, any one who will talk to me is Kool. Jim
