Picked up recently a saginaw 4 speed tranny . I was looking for a T5 for the last few months but no such luck. Anyway trying to find what year and vehicle that it came out of. The small stamp pad #'s are ...R2H12...the main body numbers are 3925656. One line on the input shaft which tells me it has the 2.54 first gear. I plan to run a stock 283 with it with no hammering on it. It came with The Hurst linkage and shift arm. Anymore info would be appreciated. Here are some pics.....

There should be casting date codes on the major pieces, and they read like the same on intake manifolds, i.e. C 4 3 would be March 4, 1973.

Since there is a single groove in the input shaft it's one of two ratios. One is 2.54, 2.01, 1.34, 1.00 gear spread, the other is 2.54, 1.80, 1.44, 1.00 and is the more common spread. The first one is slightly stronger, ratio wise. Butch/56sedandelivery.

I believe the "R" stands for 4 speed saginaw...the "H" is for June...the "12" is for the day. "A" is for January, "B" is for February and so forth.... Just can't figure out the "2"....I'm thinking 1972?...
