Hey all! I know this may not be "old skool",but I got nowhere with another'forum". I am putting a good used'91'92 sbc engine into my '71 half ton. This is my first time with the new age sbc. This engine had a factory adapter for a remote oil cooler. I just want to run a filter. I removed the adapter, and now I think I need another "adapter" to use the spin-on filter, as there is not a threaded"nipple" for a filter. Am I right? And Is there a decent site, where I can get decent chevy info, besides the good old HAMB?? Thanks, Glenn
I think 36-3w is right but you should check with the local Chevy dealer and ask.. If possible look at the exploded view of the engine assembly for the year engine you have and it will give the information you need. Frank
did it have a spin on filter on the adapter? if so you can put the adapter back on, remove the lines to the cooler and plug the threaded holes. if it had an adapter for an "oil cooler" then a spin on should be there, if the adapter was for a "remote oil filter" then you need the guts (picutre above).
Thanks for all the info! The Mortec site was a good one.I got an 87-95 350 with 1.94-1.50 valves, with roller lifters. And I'll see a chevy dealer for the spin on adapter.I may even have one from a spare old block.VIVA LA HAMB!!! glenn
Hey Glenn, aren't you glad you didn't sell me the suspension off that truck?Haahahaha! I've got a couple of old core motors up here, plus a complete cooler set-up(lines and all)---might be something you can use, just let me know. mid-tenn mike
Yer right mike! I just realized how much I love that truck. She'll have a new 'moaner in her soon. Are you going to Bowling green?? Hope to see all the Tenn-tuck-bama hamber's there!! Glenn
