Just thought you guys might like to know they're swimming around out there..
I checked my emails this morning, Saturday 9.00 am, 3/10/18 ( New Zealand )
And this one appeared, sent to me from someone called ''hotrodnomader'' sent via the H.A.M.B.
I thought it strange, because I haven't responded to any side valve post on the H.A.M.B. or for that matter, any other site, not in the past and probably not in the future either..
I did run SV engines, but that was waaay back in the 70's, now I just run a common old SB Chev..
Anyway, here's the total uncut email / personal conversation...

inthweedz, hotrodnomader started a new personal conversation with you at The H.A.M.B..

Hey I was reading a flathead post you responded too. I am a Offenhauser dealer. I'm overstocked on flathead heads at the moment. By chance are you looking for heads ? I'd give you a really good deal.

The guys been on here since 2011 and has 1500 posts. Seems like a lot of set up to scam someone for a pair of heads.

I suspect he is probably legit and seems like hitting someone up on pm shouldn't automatically make you a scammer. ****in guys been on here longer than both of you.

Did you guys even look at his history, or other posts or how long he's been on here before posting your "scammer alert" headline? Do your homework before bad-mouthing someone who looks by all accounts to be a loyal HAMB-er!!
Ryan specifically said beware of people that just joined, have no history of posting on the site, etc.
EDIT: Having said that, it didn't occur to me he might have been hacked.

I got the same email. It came to my Yahoo mail. Not messages in HAMB. I suspected a scam as well. It did not link the message he said I posted on. I may have commented on a flathead post, but I never made any indication I was looking for parts. I did look him up and saw he was a long time member. I have no need for any because there are none in my garage.

Why should I apologise, I didn't accuse him of a scam, I threw in some ??? meaning ''is it, or could it be a scam..
Seeing the fact he's a long time member with many posts is fine, he should know better, but for me to get this private email didn't make sense..
Also seems strange that he reckons I've been replying to other posts on side valve engines when I haven't..
May be he should DO HIS HOMEWORK, before he sends out his emails..
Specially after all the scam alerts lately.. Just saying..
    Edited..
As another member has said, maybe he has been hacked..
If this is the case, ok, I apologise, to him, and now that it has been bought to his attention, he changes his p***word..

I got one from him too. I think the guy is legitimate, but I don't think the H.A.M.B. should be used this way.

OK, now that I've had a couple cups of coffee.....
It didn't occur to me he might have been hacked, good point, it look and smells like that could be the case and your warning warranted.
And it does seem odd that all these random emails are showing up, if I were going to try and market to the HAMB community, I would do a new thread that everyone could see, not send individual emails.
It just really bothered me that someone who appears to be a long time member, who is trying to make a living in our hobby was being trashed.
    I've edited my post......

I got the exact message verbatim in my pms. I just responded I didn't need any head. Ooops! It looks like I left an "s" off the end, mistakenly of course!

I got the same message, I don't recall posting about a flathead, the last flathead I had was 1958.
I looked at his profile and dismissed the email.

Got the same message, he may have been hacked. I would hate to see venders using the hamb to send m*** pm's to members to peddle their stuff. I doubt that that is the case, but if that is what happened I'm sure it will be frowned upon.

I got the same offer, I politely declined- saw he was a long time member, seemed he deserved a little respect and I hope he wasn't hacked. I just bought a lot of old stock from a fella and will be offering some of it on this site after I go through it and see what I need.

I got one that referred to a post I did make for flatthead parts. It seemed he read my post so I guess he is legit but seems a strange way to drum up business.

Has it occurred to anyone that if this guy is legit, he could have simply posted in the cl***ifieds for his 'deal' for all the Hamb m***es to see? Much easier than a bunch of individual email/PMs. It is a possibility he was hacked, as mentioned.
    Regardless, sumpin' don't smell right...

I got a PM from him also. Checked him out and found he has been here a long time and was an Alliance dealer. I responded that I didn't own a flathead, so I didn't need any heads. Maybe as said, his account was hacked?

  30. I got the same post......but I did not respond in case it was a scammer collecting email addresses.
    m*** soliciting.......
