Hi all. I have a GMC frame I'm wondering if I could use for a COE project. It's from an extended cab, short bed, 2WD, light duty 3/4 ton (6 lug) 93 pickup. I redid the frame completely with all new suspension (dropped 2" front and rear), brakes, painted, etc. All the sheet metal parts are decent, but all need work as well as paint and they aren't back on the frame yet (except the cab). So, I started thinking about maybe putting a COE cab on it. I'd be building it as a loooooong-bed pickup/tow vehicle, not a car hauler. Would this be possible with this frame? I found someone selling a 57 Jeep FC170 cab (still on decent frame). I'm big into AMCs and Jeeps, so I thought this would be cool. Is the GMC frame too wide for the FC Jeep cab? Would another cab be a better fit? Oooooooooor, is this frame just not right for a COE project?
These two links will supply you with enough COE information to make your head explode. LOL Read Read Read. Nothing just fits, you will have to make mounts, steering, etc. but pretty much any cab can be made to fit any frame, if you have a torch and welder and know how to use them. Good luck! http://ozcoetrucks.freewebhosts.com.au/Index.a.html http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219018
