In my 54 Dodge I have a 230 flathead straight 6. After the paso maria cruise last weekend, I've decided to ditch my single glasspack - split my manifold and run straight pipes all the way back. Been all around the HAMB reading posts on different exhaust setups and combinations. steel packs, glass packs, straight pipes, cherry bombs, etc. Some of the lowriders we were with Friday said to run 1.25 or 1.50 all the way back to get the sound, but Im thinking 1.25 may sound like a bunch of pissed off hornets rather than the wrap Im looking for. Concerned also that 1.75 will be too big.. Opinions are what I am after. I know Im going to get sick of the noise after 2 weeks, no I dont want a deep mellow sound.. and I dont want to sound like a V8. I want the wrap you get out of a split manifold 6 when you let off the gas. At this point I am thinking 1.50 from the split manifold all the way back. Thanks!
either 1 3/4 or 2.oo in pipes this aint no brigs and stratton engine so you need some pipes to leter breath you got 230 massive cubes waiting to roar if you want noise you need a muffler like with no louveres, like a perforated muffler core, think its a cherry bomb to get a rap, also gear oil on packing and a roaring flame to burn them out will fix the sound too your dodge will have adifferent sound than a chev, each one is distinctive ford and chev are bothd different that a dodge or plymouth
