Rather than buy a new set of 20" tires for my '29 Chevy; does anybody make adapters for 6-lug to 5-lug wheels? I have a nice set of 15" steelies with almost new wide whites I would like to put on to make this a roller until I swap out front and rear axles next year. It doesn't seem that it would work to me but I thought I'd ask... The only 'stupid' question is the one not asked...
Remember this , There are no stupid questions ! We all learned by asking questions . I don't know of any off hand . Have you tried a Goggle search for Wheel adapters yet ? Retro Jim
I don't know if anybody makes adapters but a good machine shop should be able to make you a set. Also, if I'm not mistaken, six hole chevy wheels from PU's clear up into the 80's may fit.
Here you go. It's the same bolt pattern as Datsun pickups. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6x5-...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
There are no Stupid Questions for a 10 year old but it's a different story when a 20 something asks if all Chevy station wagons are Nomads. Now that's a Chumlee.
Not a stupid question, Welcome to the HAMB! If you plan on selling the 20 inch Chevy wheels I'm interested, maybe a Hershey delivery could be arranged?
I have some late 30's Cadillac smoothie wheels, trim rings & caps, they are 6 bolt. Would look sharp with some Jumbos on them.
Hey guys, Thanks for the great advice! Sounds like me best bet is to get some Chevy pick-up wheels and mount my tires on them. Also; thanks for the link to the Ebay ad! They do indeed make 6 to 5 lug adapters! This forum is the best I've found by far. My plans for the car is to run it with the original 6 for a year or so then install my 327, th350 and dana 44 rear.
Probably not what you want but I put 4X4 Chevy truck Rally wheels on my 47 Chevy woody wagon. 8" wide deep wheels. Baby moons and the trim rings made it look pretty cool.
