The answer is probably on here somewhere but no time to look. I'm going to look at a 1994 s10 wc t5, rebuilt ready to go and pretty cheap. To adapt to my 1952 flathead will the speedway adapters work. I'm pretty sure this transmission is ford bolt pattern any help is appreciated thanks in advance
Yes. They have both GM & Ford style bolt patterns. Modern Driveline had stuff as well, a****st other vendors,
I also offer the T5 kit for the 94 S10 trans. Kit includes the bellhousing, machined throwout brg ***embly, pilot busing, fork, early or late lower shaft, return spring and bolts. In stock ready to ship. Cornhusker Rod And Custom
There is your answer, ***uming the trans is good. Get everything you need from one place, and a quality HAMB supplier.
Speedway adapter is only for chevy pattern transmissions. If you are going to invest in a setup for the ford pattern I would just find a mustang trans as it has better gear ratios for high performance driving. One of the reasons the “s10” trans is so popular for hot rods is the shifter location. I have an s10 trans in my coupe and its great but the super low first gear needs a high rearend gear leaving overdrive as kind of an extra gear you dont need. Overdrive at that point may be better for an engine that puts out more than 200 ft lbs of torque. I love my setup but if I could do it over I would focus on making the best setup and using and s10 tail housing/shifter on a ford WC mustang trans.
Point of note: All of the S10 T5's with the Ford bellhousing pattern have the 4.03:1 1st gear set (and no provision for a mechanical speedometer). These are the lowest gears of any T5. This makes them a good fit for low-output engines, that need that low gear to make up for low torque, and a not-too-tall overdrive for the same reason.
From what I've read that gear ratio is probably to low for a stock 239 flattie to cruise at 60/65 mph. I know rearend gear and tire size matters but a higher gear is probably better I'm guessing. Thanks for all your input
