Can't help you there, I've got a 92 Mustang T-5 on my 8-BA. Try shoeboxford.com most guys there are using the S-10 because of the position of the shifter..

If it matters in this case, the strongest/best production or replacement T-5 were only made in the Ford configuration. Putting together an equivalent or better GM trans can only be done using expensive aftermarket parts.

I hadn't seen that one before. It's usually a difference between world cl*** or non world cl*** because the wc has bearings in spots where then non wc has bushings.

Usually guys (myself included ) get the S-10 trans for the location of the shifter tower as it matches the early car/truck shifter location better than the car transmissions. Someone will probably show a comparison photo on that.

The 93+ S10 and V6 F body T5 is WC, which some folks prefer over the NWC if you're going to put some power through it. The down side is the Ford mounting pattern. The "traditional" adapters are configured for the "standard" Saginaw/Muncie/BW 3and 4 speed pattern. In my opinion, the best choice for a T5 behind a flathead is the '92 and earlier F body T5. It has the "standard" 1 1/8 26 spline input, same length input as the earlier 3 and 4 speeds, and same pattern. They come in NWC and WC depending on the year.

There were a lot of upgrades done over time.

I don't kniow the details, but I know it's possible to put an S-10 tailhousing on at least some of the Ford versions.

I've seen several shift tower/tailshaft swap threads and articles over the past couple of years. After I bought my 8-BA I picked up an 88 S-10 T5 off Craigslist for 100 bucks and spent some of my performance bonus on the Dwight Bond adapter a couple of months ago. My engine is going to stay pretty mild so trans strength shouldn't be a big issue.

they are both world cl*** s10 transmissions ...both have the right shifter locations..one is a ford pattern 26 spline...one is chevy pattern 14 spline ...so is one a better choice for adapters ,clutch, pressure plate, throw out ? thanks again

I used an early S10 trans. Really easy to install using the Dwight Bond adapter and Speedway makes a 10.5 inch clutch disk with the correct spline. Everything else was original Henry stuff except the hydraulic slave I used to actuate the clutch.

What do you mean by "both"? Are you saying there was a Ford application that used the forward located shifter? Are you saying that World Cl*** transmissions were made in both Ford and GM configurations?

You need to also look at the 5th gear ratio. Ours in our truck is a .63 5th gear ratio. Which means that in 5th gear with a 3.73 rear axle the final drive is 2.54 . You could get this so low the vehicle wont pull it in 5th at 60 mph ????

I'm in the same boat here, have a WC T5 out of a 94 S10, ford bolt pattern, 26 spline. **** Spadaro was working on a adapter plate for this trans but i don't think he has finished it yet. Does anyone have one of these ford pattern T5's behind a flathead?

I think he means he has the choice of two transmissions and wants to know if one spline count is preferable over the other when it comes to ease of installation....finding the right parts etc.
