I don't think it's gonna be possible to get out of the ticket(s). You may get the judge to throw out the second one on the basis, "you havn't got the money to get exhausts on the car yet, and it's my only mode of transportation.

I know the zoomies look cool, but invest in a set of lakes headers and put a dump valve on there. It'll get you less tickets, and alow you more money to put into another car. I hope you get it str8'ened out.........Keep us posted.

Hey dipshit, learn to read. I said "PEOPLE LIKE ME" as in plural, more than one, over the last 200 years.

I work for myself and can do whatever I like during the day. I've been pulled over a few times since these incidents. So far, I've gotten a "oh it's you" and a "what you up to these days" from the two cops. Both cops were in the court room and neither of them wanted to write me a ticket for anything. I am nothing more than a porcupine, I'm harmless unless you want to try and take a bite out of my ass.

EXACTLY! And with the limited budgets these small towns have, I just make it VERY clear that you will spend at LEAST 10 times more coming after ME than what you will EVER get out of me. It is really just a matter of dollars and cents. But if I walked in like all of the other sheep I see in court, I'd get robbed just like they did. I'm not cost effective to prosecute.
I also found a Federal law that prohibits municipalities from charging ANY more than the exact fine costs. They can't charge courts costs, fees, etc for a ticket. It's part of the anti-speed trap laws enacted about 20 years ago. But I watched the same court steel about $2,500 from the people that were in court just in front of me and God knows how much the days and weeks and years before and after me. All I do is make sure that THEY follow the laws too. Most of them don't. I don't need to enact new laws or change any laws. But I won't let them make up laws as they go or violatge laws that already exist that are in place to protect me too.

seems tom me you like that open exhaust sound. Couldn't you get that exhaust switch that lets you control were the exhaust is routed. You can run this and have two options use a exhaust on the street but when you wont it loud for a show or whatever u can flip the switch

  8. I don't know if you have ever looked under an original '34 Ford or any other car/truck of that era, but they all had manifolds that fed into a head pipe, that fed into a muffler, that fed into a tail pipe. I'm guessing that the officer and the judge will be smart enough to know that.
This lady has ignored the basics, and in a way has put all cars in her town, with modifications, in jeopardy of closer scrutiny.

James427, not meaning to pick on you specifically, glad you know your laws better than most. But, it is generally a lot easier and nicer for everybody if people just don't break laws in the first place, especially ones you know you are breaking, or at least skirting them when you do it. Most laws (note, I didn't say all) are around for a good reason. Being nice and respectful to the people around you isn't really that much to ask and goes a pretty long way to not having problems from the police from my experience. Everybody breaks laws pretty much every day; speeding a little, not quite stopping fully, smoke a little weed at a party, whatever. But, just don't be so egregious about it and it usually is ok.

Simple, don't cause trouble and trouble generally doesn't come after you. But, some people either can't stop asking for trouble or just don't understand that concept for some reason.

AMEN. Just like the old saying "the squeeky wheel gets the grease." It's okay to squeak a little, maybe no one will notice. But if you have the loudest squeak around, you are going to get the "grease".

  11. idiot, they make silencers that stick into zoomies that dosent change their look, do that instead of ruining your car, and do it quick so you can get out of the ticket, dont fuck around, DO IT NOW.

I've been a hot rodder for over 40 years and I think zoomies sound like shit in anything other than a top fuel car. Even alcohol dragsters sound like crap. If my neighbour was running zoomies I'd be the first to complain (to him, not the cops) You'll probably enjoy your car more with some decent pipes anyhow.

This may be so, but the silencing characteristics may also be in question here as well. I know on my '29 AA flat four it didn't have squat for an exhaust. I know it won't need much to be in compliance with the law, but I'll probably run more anyway, just because I don't like the loud noise.

Man... I didn't think of it this way. Maybe she should just pay the tickets and go quietly on her way. Like hell!

As she posted just recently, this little gal has added some sort of muffler - cherrybombs I think - to her ride to be in compliance. I think now her best bet would be to fight to have the ticket kicked, but also show that she has moved to be in compliance.

As for worrying about what everyone else thinks, I'm not even going to worry about that. Yeah, the donut posse might be looking a bit harder, but they get over it. I remember working for a Airborne Express delivery service many years ago when a driver accidentally ran a pregnant driver off the road. It wasn't even his fault, but the cops were targeting those grey vans for a few months. They got over it.

Point being that I'm not going to tiptoe around everyone just because someone might get a negative reaction to me and what I drive. Besides, I'm one of those few individuals who can 'run' from the cops for fear of them bringing back my now ex-wife!

Thing is, much of the advice I gave in my original post in this thread is valid information, and was given to me by a COP! My ex was a badge-bunny, and as a dispatcher, she was around cops all the time, and as a result, so was I. I got a ticket once and one of the cops she worked with coached me on how to beat it, and as a result, it went away! It was also through knowing these cops and the way they 'did business' I lost much respect for MOST (note: Not all) cops. Especially after my ex started cheating on me and everyone in her department knew what was going on.

So, given the opportunity to beat a cop at his own game - you bet your ass I'm going to do my best to do so!

I'd also like to see that federal statute that prohibits the courts from tacking on the fees in addition to the the actual citation. A friend of mine recently didn't follow or listen to any advice I gave and wound up paying a $10 speeding fine, but the fees and costs ran it up to $187.50!

It is to the car next to you. Most hot rods have a great sound and some that are just plain obnoxious.

Hey "dipshit". No problem with my reading.

I headed over to Wikipedia and you are right, it is all people like you. It mentioned Samuel Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman and James427. All highly esteemed freedom fighters.
