Technical another what is this from

a friend of my son found this while cleaning out his shed.I told him someone here would know

 

the center logo looks mercedes benz

 

F4U corsair with the tail blown off.

 

that was my thought but figured I would receive a sure thing with the knowledge on here.

 

I'm thinking Mercedes but can not find a car it would fit...
I have came to a conclusion that Mercedes made too many things...
Cars, buses, trucks, airplanes, boats, etc etc etc...

 

I am sure someone will know with the vast knowledge available here.over the years I have been amazed how things have been identified from the people on here.

 

Some sort of dimension would be helpful. Length?

 

I'd guess '53 or '54 Pontiac trunk.

 

it seems cavman got it right.my son just told me that his friend also thinks 53 pontiac trunk emblem.I and they appreciate all who answered right or wrong.
