Stumbled upon a 62 HT today that's actually for sale....
Wear's it original factory red paint,390/at/ Pwr window car.
NO RUST! (wow).Paint will shine with a lil work. Runs/drives....Not dented,chrome/brightwork looks good, and car is complete. Interior is complete, with the usuall rip's/tears.Stocker with pinner WW's,and skirts.Has had all WS replaced as well as shoes. Int is all there, sans a lil pitting on A pillar inside chrome... Collumn shift car.Your typical i'm gonna fix it someday ride but can't.....
I've read these threads countless times, and I know when both parties are satisfied, the deal is done.
Just trying to get a feel for the market on this one before I go farther.
I was told by the guy that I talked to,that the seller=his customer at a repair shop, was "asking 4G..........
    That's not gonna happen.
IDK if all the power stuff works, but I fired it up,and it lit quickelly. Seemed to run alright, but this is without a drive.....
If you can help me with the market on these, that would be great.
Your typical I don't know what it's worth thread.......
Anything I should be specifically looking for?
    Thanks-Kid

And- This is in CA-so before you chime in,concider where i'm at and the $ because not all swinging deals are to be found around here! Things are probably different across the US.:)

"kinda not gonna happen"......if a low baller came in say $850 to $1500 on a running 'bird that I thought was worth $4000....you should just p***...

sounds like it's a good $2500 to $3000 car and it sounds like you don't want to go there....

    Rust free speaks loudly....

sounds like you will have to put some $$ into it. $5K is a good price for one that has OK paint, interior, etc so, without seeing it guess $3500. you are not the only one that is looking for a early Bird

Well- Had my eyes on it today. Cosmetically all there....Chrome/stainless was VERY decent=good shape. Body was a 8-9.... Like I said-no rust that I could find, but don't know the quirks of this model. Engine compartment was original, and I saw this at a shop. Seller had the previous mentioned work done. Gl*** was all good and not laminated, int had some tears/weathered,but all in all,at least it played the part...
If I got this,I would turn it into a driver, and I would do all the safety stuff to insure so,as that's my gig for a living.
The # he asking is only a #,and we all now the game........
    IDK these cars,but I know what a P.O.S is......
This is not "the deal of the century thread",just real world for what i've described. Car looks good for a survivor, and i've been at this a while, and a wrench by trade,so i'm not inept......
Just the market for my description.
Not looking for a project, just a cool driver instead of a "foriegn make" as my daily.
I will sacrifice miliage for collness......

Rust free '62 T-bird that runs and drives? Decent Chrome? New parts?

$4,500 is reasonable. $3,500 would be a bargain. Especially if all the Weatherstrips have been replaced, and the the paint will come back with a little work.

How much is the other one, in similar condition, that you are looking at?

Actually haven't looked at another, just had to take a walk today for a "work thing",and stumbled upon it,and since I had time to kill,I inquired....
Looked ok to me from what I know,(ain't much:rolleyes:),but, reallity vs.auction prices. A good stocker in my eyes.....worth a good cleaning and a lil tlc....
The seller isn't a car guy by any means. So- maybe yes/maybe no....
I left my #,and already got a call back.... Hhhhmmmm leverage.....

That's my point. IS there another one, in any condition, to look at? I don't see these very often, in any condition.

It could be worth $4k. Give it a solid look over (and under). Offer $3k, if it is good. Bargain from there.
