    Beatnik,

It only comes in a gloss black that would be unsuitable for tire coloring.

Good tech post. The paint sounds like the key.

But, even I won't paint my tires. I would rather run Bias.

And wh not just have them CUT.

  4. Just a quick note. Mac55 PMed me and said his whitewalls cracked when he had them mounted. He had them mounted by a tire machine, I do my own tires by hand. The tire machine stretches the **** out of them. If you are going to have them mounted at a tire store, try mounting them before you spray the sidewall. Then just let the air out, spray them, and air them back up. Dean

[/ QUOTE ] You can only cut tires with white rubber already in them, such as the small whitewalls, or raised white letters. Then you are restricted to about 2" of white rubber. If you cut blackwalls you still have to paint them to get the whitewall. Plus it costs money. This costs the price of a can of paint, some sand paper, and some time. You can do Bias ply tires too. Hey Beatnik... I have a set of M/T ET streets on my car, and I didn't want those big 'ole white leters hangin out, so I just fogged a couple of light coats of KRYLON Semi Flat Black over 'em and you can't tell they were ever white! I didn't even clean 'em first, and they lasted this whole last season and still look good!

My old man says that he did this back in the day - but it ****ed because the paint was **** back then.

Hey this quote hasn't been tossed out in quite a while:

    ..."just like the 50's, Bro."

Damn it's been so long I am not sure that's how it goes??? [IMG]

Ok, I just smoked a big ol rock of crack, but here goes...

for the prep, will that "wax and grease remover" FOOK up the road surface of a motorcycle tire??? just the back one...

    Thanks,
    J

  10. Maybe I'm on crack, but I don't know what you mean? Wax and grease remover won't hurt the rubber. Here's an update on my tires. I drove my truck all winter long, through snow, salt, and rain. The front whitewalls have some small scuffs in them, nothing bad. The rears have the age cracks from the used tires, but still look good. They even survived the high pressure car wash. I'll probably respray them pretty soon. If I was still in Calif. with the great weather, I wouldn't have to do anything to them. Dean

I purchased 4 225-70-15s from Coker, turns out that one of them was 215-70-15, I tried to have a new one swapped out, but it was gonna cost almost as much as a new one to send back. I will never deal with Coker again. All they want is your money. I'm a very dissatisfied customer. Just wanted to let everyone know before they bought from Coker.

You really need to poke around here a bit more before resurrecting an ancient thread that has nothing to do with Coker and then badmouth them. Not only are there representatives from Coker on this board, but they go out of their way to help resolve issues for us HAMBers. Plus, they are Alliance vendors...if you have a beef with them, why not contact them and try to make it right?

Now that I've read threads for both grinding whitewalls and painting them, I wonder which is better?

  17. . Wow, I was wondering about the fusion paint... I used flat white krylon and was happy with my results. The question is, unless you have huge chunks of paint falling off, how close do you really have to look???
And if you have to look that close, just look into your wallet a little deeper, and watch your money go bye-bye.....I'm happy with my $10 spray on wide white michelins....

Hey, that sounds like a really practical way of getting affordable whitewalls. Great post.

    Gordon H,

If you ordered 225/70R15 and we sent a 215/70R15 then we screwed up. Just give us a call (or PM me) and we'll fix it on our dime.

    Thanks,

    Jess

This thread has nothing to do with Coker tires but since you brought it up,,

It's idiots like this that give southerners a bad name:mad:,,,Coker will go out of their way to solve problems,,,I have delt with Coker several times and will again in the very near future,,,they are a Alliance Vender here on the HAMB.

All you have to do is call Jess and he will take care of the problem and the call won't cost you a dime.

Let us know how it turns out,,if you don't I'm sure Jess will! HRP

Gosh, all solved in less than a day, and on the internet no less. Gordon H, you are full of **** sir. A regular stinker, and quite possibly a troll. If I had enough money I would buy my tires from Coker, but because I do not, I will make cheap-o whitewalls until that day arrives.

Too bad there isn't an internet troll filter...

Oh, and if anyone gets confused later on, this was your FIRST post on the Hamb. Good day.

I may be tripping but that is exactly what my Dad's whitewalls looked like when they aged. This is one beautiful revelation.

Works great! Just finished and it only cost me like $30 and about 5 hours.

Thanks MercMan1951 for the advice. If I had talked to Jess months ago, then I would had no problem at all.
