Excellent, I bet they will. I'll be there for both of course, and Russ still plans to make the Opener but beyond that he can't be certain as yet. Kay and Russ' son are planning on April too. We're going with what we have so far and hoping to get our elusive mid thirteen with it. I'm working on a head when and as I can but have no idea when it'll be ready as our progress schedule'll be anybody's guess this year. Hey Thingy, what's the latest word on your plans?
Yeah, it's not enough we'll be getting a pair of ringers right at the track, now we're gettin'em from out of state as well. Seriously, that's *****in' news. Unfortunately Russ won't be able to make either of the first two meets. He's had a couple set-backs with his medical ****. Nothing too serious, just damned inconvenient.
It's here. Latest news on Russ is he hopes to make it up for one day but isn't sure which. What news of the Vegas gentlemen?
Well, not the ones we'd hoped for ....... The car is running steadily worse on the top end under load despite the promising progress we've had on our no-load tests. Looks like it's time to open'er up. In fact now she's pulling better up there when I get off the pedal slightly. At least two possibilities for that (and perhaps more) so I have three days 'til Dragfest to address those. However ............ We have a brand new trophy for SoCal HAMBsters, and its first winner as well. We call it the HAMBIE ........... It'll be a rotating award. Taken home from a meet by the lowest et posted by a SoCal HAMBster at that meet and returned for contest at the next meet. At present we have five qualifying meets on our list; Butch's four ANRA meets and Randy's Dragfest. The '09 ANRA opener this weekend saw Lee Phillips taking first possesion of the "SoCal HA/GR HAMBIE". The opener also saw the introduction of our third HA/GR out here, Joe and Roger's #48, here caught staging with ye author in the first round of Open Wheel ........... Almost literally an automotive work of art even before it's finished, this car'll also be a top runner once the bugs are worked out. Presently doing the usual ch***is shake downs with a venerable 235, she has a properly tweaked 261 waiting its turn in the engine bay. Joe and Roger (I don't know their last names yet) go back a ways, they know their way around an inliner and for my money will be the ones to beat in HA/GR out here in very short order. They're good eggs too. The rest of the stories from the weekend will be courtesy of their respective authors and will be in their respective posts. Be cool gentlemen.
Man I'm tired........but here's a quick recap of our weekend. The HAMBIE looks great on our mantle Lee ran a 14.42 best @ 90 mph and took runner-up in Open Wheel. We developed a miss but I'm sure we'll figure it out for DragFest, thanks Old6 and we'll see ya this weekend.
Yeah Joe, we decided against calling it the "****ie" or the "Sappie" for obvious reasons. Heading out for Dragfest tomorrow morning. Really looking forward to the claimed pair of HAMBsters from Vegas. Dug into our engine and found our cam's doing a credible imitation of a pancake. No time to put one in 'til next week or so, so tuned'er for the best with what we have and will go have some more fun. It was great to have three HAMBsters at the ANRA Opener (and to get in six runs) and I'm like a kid again thinking about the possibility of four (or even more) this weekend. Hell, if this keeps up, in a year or two we may start feeling as if we were Aussies. I guess there're worse things. See ya'll there ......
