I have 1964 Ansen catalog. The ****tershield listings do not carry any part numbers like yours. The numbers I have listed are, c5557 is 55-57 chev p***, c5862 is 58-62 p***, c6363 is 63 p*** and so on. I think maybe you are looking at a casting number not a part number. I don't know if Ansen stamped or cast the actual part numbers in the housings.

My 1971 Ansen catalog lists: stamped steel type for Chevy as p/n's SHH7041,SHH7043,SHH7044. For the cast style,Chevy p/n's SHC-6670,SHC-6672,SHC-6673,SHC-6674 and SHC-6675. No mention of any 5004-T for any Ansen pieces.

I have 2 for a sbc with the 55-57 rear mounts ,one the bottom cover is round the other the cover has a flat bottom. I wonder why they did that

  9. Check the diameter of the ****ter shields, I'll bet the one with the rounded inspection cover is smaller outside diameter. The option maybe would be strength, a rounded inspection cover wouldn't flex as much and maybe keep the pieces off the track better.

I took the pics off my phone so I'm not certain but I believe that is the same number on mine. It fits a Tri-five Chevy. It has rear motor mounts, correct?

No starter mounting holes, so it probably is for the blocks with starter holes in them...and it does not have the ears for mounting in a 55-57...so my guess is it's for most Chevy cars and vette from 58 till mid 60s when it was probably made.

  12. No mounting ears.(we knew it wasn't 55-57) Father could not remember went to block mount starter.

It is for a block mounted starter engine, so 1962 and later; the 62 327 had a block mounted starter, the 283's had bellhousing mounted starters. By 63, all were block mounted except for trucks, some of those went into the 70's with bellhousing mounted starters. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
