I've got a pair of these old Ansen Sprints that I was considering trading to a local guy for some Cragar Super Tricks, as the Ansens are 4.75" Chevy pattern, and I want a 4.5" Ford pattern to run my slicks on the Falcon. But I have no idea if I should be asking to trade straight across, or if I should be getting some cash to boot from him? Both pairs of wheels are in great shape, but I'd prefer to not make a stupid trade if the Ansens have more value. Both pairs are the same 10"x15" size, so no difference there either. Anyone have any input on values? I know the Cragar isn't as traditional, but they'll only be there for drag racing, and I'll still run my spokes the rest the time.
And then put ten studs in so I could run my ET spokes on the street, and the Ansen slots on the track? I already said I'm only running the 10" wheels with my slicks. Wouldn't make sense to redrill, or run slots with the spokes up front the rest the year.
Which era are you wanting to emulate? Your call. Where will the car be used the most for, drag racing or attending show and cruises? What to you, looks the best for wheels and tires for this car?
As I said in the original post; I'm not trying to emulate an era, or make them correct to an era. I just wanted to know what the two different wheels value was. I have 4 wheels and tires on my car that will run 99.9% of the time. Just hoped I might get a simple answer to what the value of the two wheels were, so I could tell the other person how much difference I wanted in cash. I'm running these almost all the time:
They 10" width may change things but around here the Ansens don't have a whole lot of value at least up to the 8.5" wide versions. I paid $55.00 for my last pair with some vintage M/T street tires. I wouldn't pay $5.00 for the Cragars no, they would be fine for occasional track use.
Steel wheels to mount the slicks would be cool and what the weekend racers did. The S/Ts would be great-on a Camaro.
I had a set of Centerlines in the Cragar style that I sold cheap. Old Ansens seem to be going up in value, so I think he should throw in a little.
10" wide Ansen Sprints for $55? I had a set if 12" wide 2 years ago at Hershey swap meet. I thought it was the wrong place to sell them at, antique show not hot rod, got $500 for a pair.
I'll probably paint them black, and put a red wedge painted into them. That way it wont be obvious what they are. But 10" steel wheels aren't any cheaper than the Cragars!
Thanks! I love them, but nothing I own uses a wheel this wide and Chevy pattern. Too big for my Austin gasser. Too small a pattern for my 5x5" Burb, and too big a pattern for the Falcon. The guy with the Cragars is wishy-washy, so it might not work anyway. I may just sell the Ansens and buy some steel wheels for the slicks.
slots are worth more just check ebay. i might trade but i would want at least $75 cash with the wheels.
Great; two more people who can't read the original post. Not sure why some people can't get past the fact these are just going to be used for a few runs down the strip each year. I'd love to find a couple cheap ET spokes that were 10" and matched what's on the Falcon now, but that ain't gonna happen.
Anyone know the value of a pair of 15 x 10 Ansen sprints, Ive got a really mint set over here I might be looking at selling in the near future and I really have no idea on price.
I so like them but I agree with ya, if they don't fit they don't fit. But I think I would sell them and go the steel route. I have a set of 14x6 slots UNi lug that I have moves from houses now. I just can't bring my self to sell them. Stupid I know Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I like slots and they used to be cheap, they still are if the timing is right I have a pair of 15x10s with 5 on 4.5 and a nice polish I picked up for $50.00 but those Cragars have no value to me if it's just a matter of getting the right size tire on right now go for it, you can and probably will continue looking for the right wheel and in the mean time you can go racing
$250 to $500 a pr on the auction site for 15x10's depending on lug pattern Chevy pattern 5x 4 & 3/4 and the Ford/Dodge/AMC 5x4 & 1/2 bring the upper end of the price range. 15x11's and 15x12's bring a premium also. 1971BB427: Your Slots are worth more, I would sell them outright, take the cash and buy the wheels you want. Badass Falcon you built, very nice!
Is money really that tight? They are getting harder and harder to find, why not just keep them, you'll wish you had some day. I probably have ten sets of wheels in my garage attic. I'd probably sell a set to a friend if pressed, but I wouldn't go looking to sell.
What was vague about it? I said I was offered a trade, and wanted to know the value so I could tell him how much difference I needed to get. I even explained and showed the two types of wheels. How is that vague? Just because you came back with redrilling my axles, so I can't use my present wheels, instead of answering the question. Now I'm the one who needs to lighten up? I always enjoy your responses, but you were just off track this time with your response
