I am so sorry to hear this. I thought youd had it straightened out. Any chance of a refund? I bet it's delayed your build, too.
Well lucky thing is I havent sent him any money he said on web site he does paypal when axle gets done. Yes i need the truck for a parade.
Well that kinda puts things in a different light. I get that its inconvenient, but I don't think anyone can say he is ripping anyone off in any shape or form. I have heard from someone that bought an axle form him that the workmanship was really top-shelf. Sounds like he has more work than he can handle, and isn't willing to compromise quality by hiring help.
yes tet**** has already sent him money and started this post he hasnt heard from greg in a while either. Not much i can do just wait and keep trying to get ahold of him to see when he thinks it will be done
I have nothing but great thing to say about Greg. I have sent him many axles and they have come back perfect. In fact I have look at a few and said this can't be my axle it's to nice ! I have no doubt all will be fine . Remember he is a one man shop doing all
I can understand not answering general inquiries from potential new customers-not a good idea, but it can get busy. I cannot understand refusing to answer legitimate contacts from customers who have your product on order. No matter how good the work, this is just BAD. Bad business, bad for the industry, bad for the kindness and kindred spirit we try to build a**** car people. If you agree to supply a product, take money for the work and don't deliver it or even reply to the customer, it's just "being busy"? I don't know anyone in this dispute, but how hard is it to pick up the damn telephone?
Problem with being a one man shop. Spending time on the phone answering tech questions or talking to possible people who probably wont spend any money anyway takes time away from actually working.
FYI: When I have been there to drop off & pick up axels, he also was working a full time job. He does the axel thing as a secondary business. Bill
All is great I got ahold of Greg he has had health issues I have no doubt the axle will be excellent he may just think about have a grand kid or a friend run his site to let folks know the progress and how busy he is. I will be sending him more axles as needed now that I know what the deal is John
Excellent news, and the idea of a young person in or close to his family who is intelligent and digitally proficient to handle communications is a great move for any one man business. Until I shut it down a few years ago, I had a side business that evolved into a partime business after I retired from my primary job, and taking my time that should have been used repairing a customer's damaged boat prop to listen to another customer's long winded tales about his boat, motor, etc. and how fast it was, but he thought maybe just a little tweaking of the pitch or cup of his prop would help. Things of this type were a major part of why sold the equipment and inventory and got out of the boat prop business. So I can sympathize with Greg on that aspect of a one man business.
I gotta speak up because Gregg's work is the best there is and I have one of his dropped '34 axles under my '32 3W.....he is not the fastest but well worth the wait
Well, and finding a crack in Tet****' axle AFTER it was dropped probably put him behind schedule as well. You have an axle finished for a guy, are ready to ship it, and find out its junk and you have to start over, that's a big set-back for a small one-man operation...
Greg has straightened several axles for me and dropped one for me too. I know several other people he's dropped axles for as well. He does a great job and does it right. I've been to his place and seen his jig. I know he has lots of other stuff going on in addition to his axle business, and as we all know-life often gets in the way.
