I like the hidden cell phone Idea especially after my daughter got her Droid back a few months ago using the GPS tracking. Short story is that she dropped the phone at the grocery store, someone picked it up and a short time later she tracked it to a house in town. She called the cops who didn't offer much help but took down the info. I went to the cops the next day and pushed them to go check on it. Cop went to the house where the gps said the phone was. His version was that it was a "prominent local citizen's house and the missing phone couldn't be there. Shortly after the cop leaves the house my daughter sets off the phones alarm from her computer. 30 minutes later the store calls and says her phone has been turned in as found. A generation or two out of date smart phone wouldn't cost too much and wouldn't cost that much to put on the phone plan. With a hidden auxiliary battery it would operate for days with the main battery disconnected.
