  1. 'Not to start an argument but, our water softener system does leave enough sodium in the water that we cannot use that water on the house plants. They will die. All of our outside water faucets are plumbed off the main before it gets to the softener.'

Any post that shares knowledge here will be challenged.

I’m not going to dispute what you’re saying . As yes it’s fact in certain geographic locations and with certain aquifers .

but to make a general , blanket statement regarding all tap and well water is simply wrong .

where I am from in the GTHA ( golden horse shoe ) using tap water on cooling systems or batteries is completely fine as a advised by rad shops and battery manufacturers in the area .

go anywhere outside of this zone and that changes considerably.

My parents cottage is in a well , the water coming out of the well is 100% safe and drinkable as my mom is paranoid and gets it tested multiple times a year , still has it go through 2-3 different water filters and in the end after all that passes it through a Brita filter in the fridge .

Friend a few towns over has hard , stinky well water . 100 % safe to drink but it stinks and stains his fixtures . Even with filtration .

Sorry man I ain’t buying what you’re selling . Yes local issues I agree , broad sweeping generalizations , nope.
