Who cares ? .. SHITLOAD of COOL stuff !! Whish I lived a "bit" closer The collector have obviously saved a shitload of cool old stuff 4 the future generations ! ( Made us all a silent favor by doin`so ) now you guys have the oportunety to buy a nice bit or 2 ... What is wrong with that ? Have Fun Wish I could have been there .
I do not know or vouch for wildman, but that auction is my backyard. While I didn't personally know the owner, I have a few friends who did. He was a local builder and as you can see he accumulated a ton of stuff. I know one guy who looked at the '67 SS a couple of years back and thought it a bit rusty for what they were asking then. Some of better stuff is gone and a lot of it has suffered from poor storage.
I do know and will vouch for Wildman! This auction is that of friends who are not computer savy. I am simply helping them out, and my fellow HAMB members by posting this here. I'm not on the mailing list for the auctioneer, and I figured that many here were not either, so I posted the link. I had the opportunity to walk through and see the stuff this past weekend, and believe me, it is unbelieveable what has been "uncovered". I have known these folks for over 30 years, and I know that they have found stuff that has been long forgotten. As far as the "67 SS", it IS NOT a '67 SS - it is a '67 Caprice. I just looked at it this Saturday, and it is VERY clean - not a rust bucket by any means. As far as "Some of better stuff is gone and a lot of it has suffered from poor storage." - I don't know where you have gotten your information, but I'll call BS! Everything pictured was recently photographed (less than 2 weeks ago) by Kiko, and everything pictured has been in DRY storage in a very large barn for the 30+ years that I have known these folks! I really don't care if anyone from HAMB comes or not - hell, I thought I was doing everybody a favor by giving a heads up! Do me a favor and DON"T show up - I'll buy everything for a song!

Wildman1, No one's knocking you, its just that 4 posts all big and bold, and someone wanted to know what your angle was. You answered it. By the way, my mistake on that car being an SS, but a friend of mine did pass on it cause he felt it was too rusty for the money they wanted at the time. We're not talking body rust out, but underneath and it isn't isn't exactly mint, in the photos you can see dents in one of the rear fenders. One man's meat is another's poison as they say. This auction looks like a blast, just too far for me to travel this wknd. Best of luck to those that get to make it though. I'll have to settle for drinking beer at the local Goodguys show even though I would much rather rumage through the stuff at that auction.
I'll be there. Lots of cool stuff. Only 45 minutes away for me. I will just have to find a truck large enough to bring it all home in.
The 58 Buick sold for 15k, I think, and the Caprice sold for 12,500. The T truck sold for 5700, or so, I wasn't paying that close of attention. They were going to go for more than I have, anyway. The newer Cad limo sold for 1500 and the short bus for 1250. Both of those ran. The Packard sold for 800 and I'm kicking myself for not buying that one. The 40's Cads were pulled from the auction because the auctioneer couldn't find and verify the Vins on them, but do have good titles and are still for sale. The small block chevy stuff was given away IMHO. Lots and lots of books, manuals, pieces parts and just stuff. Had a good time but these kinds of auctions always bum me out. I hate seeing a man's lifetime parted out like that.
What a day! First, a few corrections to Ray C's son's post - The '67 Caprice went for $14,875, which in my opinion was a great buy. The '68 Caddy limo went for $1850. He is right about the early SBC parts - they went for a song, less than scrap price. We're talking about '55 & '56 265ci engines (complete), '57 - '62 complete 283ci engines, intakes, heads, etc. Complete 283 heads were going for $5 a pair! Even though I am a strictly BBC guy, it was VERY tempting to buy everything for re-sale. Too bad my barn is already full! Everything from soup to nuts that is auto related - signs, maps, manuals, classic car parts, vette parts, lights, license plates, even dummies! Over 8 hours of straight auction - Kiko's did a great job. Those that made it saw a once in a lifetime auction - those that didn't missed out. You can't say I didn't warn you!
Wildman, Someone told me that the same lady bought both the Buick and the Caprice, do you know if that's right? There's a picture of that distributor machine on another thread. Sold for 10 bucks they say. I didn't see that sell.
Ray C's Son, Yep, both the '58 & the '67 sold to the woman wearing the USMC sweat shirt. That King's distributor machine did sell for a lousy $10 - I picked a bad time to get a cup of coffee! What did you buy?
I didn't buy anything. I'm a Ford guy, but I live within a couple miles so I had to go. There wasn't anything I couldn't live without. Is that older SBC stuff really not worth anything? That stuff went so cheap.
I think that a big reason the stuff went so cheap was that it was so crowded in the back of the barn where the stuff was that the only ones who could see what was going on was whoever happened to be standing directly in front of the parts being auctioned. Complete '57 Chevy engine for less than $100? If a guy had bought that and advertized it correctly, I would have to think that it would bring AT LEAST $500! I bought a pair of '56-'57 Corvette oil pans for a song - I bought them because I need a new MOROSO racing pan for my big block, and I know that I can sell one of them to pay for it! I was SERIOUSLY considering buying everything and renting a storage unit to hold it. I'm sure that all of the SBC stuff could be sold for at least 4-5X what it was bought for - the last time I looked, no one is paying 400 - 500% interest!
Just joined the site tonight and came across this link, story of my life, a day (or week) late yet again! Wish i could have gone to that auction, wound up just reading the thread. I have to ask but what year / model was the Packard?
Never mind, found one of your links that put me into the right place on Kiko's site so i could check it out. That looked like a great sale. Even checked out the old outboards, I could have used those old Martin 25s to add to my collection of them. Honestly would have loved to have any of the outboards. Nice Packard but too new for my taste in their cars
