I just got my hands on a 50 lincoln. Its just a baby and I want to bring it up right. Any suggestions or pics of some chops, drops, clips or whatever?
I have a '49 Baby Lincoln coupe. Near ready for the chop. About 5 1/2 inches will do me. Independant suspension front and rear. Discs all roud. 500 cu/in Caddy engine. '70 Imperial buckets. '80 Caddy tilt steering. Fully boxed ch***is with new cross members.. Plenty more to do yet. .
Very cool.... Cant wait to see what you do to it! Whats that orange thing in the centre of the bumper? Some sort of light or reflector? Kinda limits the places to put the number plate... is it some sort of 'option'???
This was posted on Janne Kutja's site. He really has a knack for getting things looking right. You rellay have to look close at his work. he makes many sublte change that are easily overlooked.
Very nice! I'm working on a -51 baby Linc. Though mine will get a Merc nose... My suggestions for your car: nosed and decked, remove the "tri-bars" on the headlights and the yellow light, remove the sunvisor, change to 48-52 or 53 Cad wheelcovers, (rare...) curved -51 Lincoln sidetrim will look perfect. Neat that you have a 2d already, Im changeing my own car from 4 to 2 doors...
I have a '50. 4 door...plan on chopping this winter. Will take some work getting the 4 door to look nice with a chop. Have a 429 caddy in mine also. In fact, just rebuilt it last night, ready to drop in in the next day or so. Pictures are in my album under my profile. Will be re-working the front end as well.
That drawing seems to be based on Cosmo platform and not the Lido(Baby) Lincoln. I could be wrong. I have been before. Fryguy
Drawing looks like Jim Hibbs old car.. That baby Lincoln looks a LOT better than what you usually start with.. It's only Tuesday night..think it'll be done by this weekend? j/k...Your posts show some amazing stuff, and it doesn't seem to take you long to work your magic.
My '50 got customized by a snowplow in the early 60's. I'm planning a swap to a Mercury front clip and frame, but if the original front clip on my car was good, I'd keep it. I'd probably keep the front bumper, float the toothy part of the grille in a rounded, Merc-ish shell, and weld on some shoebox Ford front fender caps to eliminate the tunneled headlights. I realize the headlights are kind of the Lincoln's signature, but I just can't stand the look of them. Maybe I'll photoshop my idea, a quick one just for fun.
