any 50 mercury chop top pictures?

I'm new to this forum. looking for pictures that show 50 mercury coupe being chopped. also a 4 door conversion to a 2 door. I am probably not looking it up right. help locating would be appreciated.Thanks

why not leave it a 4 door and chop it? whats cooler than factory suicide rear doors?? my brothers choppin his 4 door i'll see if i got a pic of it if you want, its got a 50 ford rear gl***, i think its gonna be pretty cool

NOT MY FIRST CHOP. CURRENTLY HAVE A 53 CHEVY 2DOOR POST I'M CHOPPING. HAVE 2 63 SUICIDE DOOR AND 1 64 SUICIDE DOOR LINCOLNS. ALSO HAVE A 60 CHEVROLET KINGSWOOD THAT WILL BE A SURFING STYLE WAGON THAT IS AN ORIGINAL 348 BLOCK CAR. i FOUND SEVERAL GOOD POST THAT HELPED ME WITH THE 53.(EASIER IF YOU CAN SEE DIFFERENT APPROACHES) i HAVE THE 4 DOOR 50 MERCURY AND I HAVE A SET OF COUPE DOORS WHICH WOULD MAKE IT EASIER TO CONVERT TO A COUPE. i WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ANOTHER COUPE LIKE I HAD 40 YEARS AGO. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

Hey,

The last photos of a chop, in progress, on this site date back to a
year or so. Sorry I can't help any further, but a search of Mercury,
and chop, of that time frame "may" yield results.
As for 4dr. to 2dr. conversions, lots of that goin' on these days,
but Mercury doner doors and a B post will run upwards of 1k in
todays money. It's very doable, though!

If you are going to lean the pillars, Matts way is probably the best way to do it but I for one dont own a shrinker/stretcher. I know, I know its on the list.

So...in lieu of that...I cut out the corners (door corners, quarter corners) and later do a series of cuts to change the angle as needed, then weld them back together. Miight be more work, but if you gotta...you just gotta.

BTW...I saw that lil trick from Kingkustomstemecula.com Thats Rob Radcliffe's site on his shop...he has a do***ented step by step chop on a 49 Ford. If its advice you seek, you wont find a better guide than that on the net anywhere.

as stated before, the B-piller on a moredoor is different than a 2 door in the area that pockets the door latch. i converted mine to a 2 door and then gave it a haircut, 4"in back and 3" out of the a-pillers. i have a complete det of "as-i-went" pics that i took during my build. i can send them to you if you get PM me your address. i used a set of twodoor doors and a fellow HAMBer hauled a rotted 2 door shell down to me from Mich. it is surprisingly EASY converting a 49 to 51 Merc from s moredoor to a 2. im not above having a moredoor, i just had an oppertunity to convert mine and i wanted a 2 just a bit more!!!! in my opinion it was easier to convert and chop a twodoor than just chop the moredoor. good luck and let me know if i can help. not too far away either so feel free to stop by.
