I just want to know what car you used as the doner for the disc? Is that to much to ask??

Any ways, Ive done some research and have a few ideas, but I dont know for shure, and was hoping to be able to talk to some one who has done it.

OH OH OH!!!! I got another question!!!!!!!

What did you do with the master cylinder? I hear that an 80's mustang master cylinder will fit but only bolt to the bottom holes, correct?

I'm pretty sure that the '59 is the same as the '57, in which case you can use a Ford Granada spindle on the stock suspension. You'll need to rear the lower part of the spindle for the ball joint, but other than that you're golden. Granada discs will go right in. You MUST use a 15" wheel if you do this though, but that's ok because IMHO 14" rims don't fill out the wheelwells enough anyway. You will also get a 2" drop out of the Grada spindles, which is a perk.

If you don't want to swp the spindles, you can buy a kit off of eBay that will adapt the the Granada rotors and calipers to the stock spindles. You still need to use a 15" wheel.

As far as a master cylinder goes, I used a manual '67 Mustang unit, which cost $25 at the local parts store. It bolted right in using the bottom two bolts as you said. I used the 57 pushrod just because I could. You'll need to relocate your brake light switch though. You can either install a mechanical switch on the pedal itself, or, you can hit up the local hardware store. I grabed an 1/8" T brass fitting, and screwed my pressure with in, then just used 2 adapters to mate it up to the brake line. that's the easiest way in my opinion because nothing will need to be rewired.

this sounds like a good deal. I ordered a set from MPBrakes for 950.00 and it got damaged by UPS before I recieved it. So I'm waiting for my new package or my refund either one. they're giving me a hard time about the shipping charges.

    so think about your choices

the Granada spindles are the most popular method but also require a 7º tapered reamer for it to seat correctly. The free 2" drop is nice but if your car already sits pretty low, you may me screwed.

IMHO, the best way to go is the 74-78 LTD II, Cougar/Thunderbird, Torino route. The spindle is a direct bolt in and either ball joint works.

As for a master, yeah use a the Mustang dual master. It is the same master for a varity of Fords.

    i used 79 t-bird spindles on mine.

taper was the same on lower ball joint, just had to have it milled down
so the ball joint stud would stick through far enough so the castle nut would
    work.
did not lower it noticeably,(if any),and used master cylinder and combination
    valve from said vehicle.
i like the idea of lowering with granada spindles though.

    oh yeah,15 inch wheels too.
got mine from a mopar,a diplomat or something.

  9. You don't need 15" wheels you just need to get 14" disc brake wheels. Base wheel on a Mid size '70's Ford/Merc and Granada etc was 14" ( Many used 14" Argent Magnums.) The stock 14" won't work because they don't clear the caliper and the hub hole is not large enough either. Stu

Oh, thats not a problem, Im goin to run 20"s:eek:

Not really, I dont want to ruin a perfetly good ol car

I havent made up my mind yet, but I will ether run a set of 14" in the front 15" in the rear, or I will go 15" all the way.

You can use a Granada dual master which will bolt in (lower two holes) If no power, get a Granada master for non-power (yes they have one). 14 inch wheels will work - I have reversed chromes on my 54 Ford which fit the Granada spindles without any mods. (Previously were on the stock drums). If you go the Granada route, make sure you get all the brake parts from the donor car including the proportioning valve. Depending on what wheel you use you may have to turn down the hub. Lot of meat to do this.
