Here's my latest score. Didn't get a good side shot. It's almost all there, 6 popper, 3 on tree, and 5 lugs too. Best part, got it less than a mile from the house!

Would make a great Nostalgia Super Stock car...Have a couple of cars to trade...a 63 Galaxie Fastback, 289/3 speed and a 64 fastback Galaxie, no engine or trans...
Currently racing our own 63 NSS car...take a look at www.texasthunderperformance.com
    or www.texasoutsiders.com

Yes it would. Have you ever seen the '61 Police Interceptor 390 (or was it Thunderbird Special?). I think illustrations of that engine are what made me fall in love with 3x2 induction. My dad could have gotten one of those engines free out of an old cop car years ago and didn't.

Just think what a 428 built up like the 390 could do in that car. Fun, fun, fun.

So....any chance you may want to trade the 61 for one of our other 63 or 64 fastbacks? Could use that 61.

I just sold mine today. It had a 292 V8 with only 35k miles. Sweet car but I have replaced it with a 51 Plymouth Savoy Wagon.

Heres mine. 390, 3 on the tree. Do any of you guys know where I can get a rear window weather strip? Mine is gone. Also, unionvillehaunt, if you need a gas cap cover I think I have a spare that I would let go cheap. If you lived closer it would cost you a 6 pack:D

61 was the last year of the big body FAirlane. It had a curved rear window and door posts compared to the Galaxie flat rear window and no posts. The 61 Starliner had a curved rear window but it was a hardtop (kind of a bubbletop). THe Fairlane was also pretty stripped down compared to the Galaxie.

I have a '61 Fairlane. That car probably looked like mine one day.

That rear window is worth some cash.

I'm trying to add a picture, maybe it'll work.

Have you checked over at dennis-carpenter.com and/or dearbornclassics.com they have a ton of parts. Also, looks like a fun project. there are a couple nicely done mild customs on this board, lets see if any pop up.

It has the 292 and 3 speed. It was super reliable until a few months ago. Finally got everything straightened out, and then spun a bearing. I have a 390 for it that is torn apart, but money (or lack of) has stopped that progress for now. I have thought about fixing the bearing, and trying to get it going again for the summer, and working on the 390 as money comes in. Eventually I want a four speed also.

Brandon, who posts here and has the copper Anglia, actually has a cool picture at a gas station coming back from Detroit last year with it and 3 other cars. I was driving one of the "drum brake" cars following him when his axel snapped, and sparks flew everywhere. It was a wild ride.

Anyone replace a bearing in a Y Block lately???

Hey, killer car. Have you thought about removing the inner headlights and replacing them with screens? They don't go anywhere, but look cool.

It is really easy, and they fit right into the buckets, you don't even need to make a bracket.

Yup, tried ALL the usual Ford sources plus some places that manufacture weather striping such as Metro rubber in the Twin Cities. You can find it for Galaxies and Starliners but not Fairlanes. Cant remember the guys last name but his frist name is Mark and he builds high dollar rods and hes from Ohio. He had a 61 in Hot Rod magazine so I tracked him down and asked if he would tell me where he bought the weather strip, or, if he wanted, I would buy it from him. No dice. I dont understand why , if he knew where to buy it, he wouldnt buy it and resell it to me. Worst case I may just have to buy one for a Starliner and "cut to fit"

  21. Hey guys, not trying to hi jack this thread, but I'm looking for a set of head light bezels for the '61 Fairlane/Galaxy/Starliner. Anyone got any leads? Been looking for a long time-no one is re-popping them. Thanks!

Good luck! They get crazy prices for them on ebay. I found one, not the one I need, that I bought at Carlisle last year. WTF is it with the people that owned these cars that they had to hit everything with the headlight trim rings!

61, THAT car is awesome! Bunch of really nice cars on this thread!

I gotta snap some more pics of ours before the snow hits later.

I do believe we are looking for a gas door. My girlfriend took it apart, made a diagram of how to put it back together (??) and that I believe lost most or all of its parts. Shes good like that. You dont happen to have the Ford emblem that goes on it do ya? I think it might just be Galaxies, but sure looks rather neat.

Im trying to cut down on my stash of cars, bringing another project home in a few hours (55 Olds out, 53 Merc Monterey in) but after I get this habit under control...we found a complete (thrashed, but all there) Starliner in the woods for $200...just have to hook it up and drag it home. Really cant wait for that.

As for the rear window rubber...GOOD LUCK!!! We went through that about 2 yrs ago. We are actually looking to go get another rear window incase something happens to this one on the way out or way in. Front and rear have to come out...interior is done, and shes sprung quite a leak...awesome. When my girlfriend and dad did the car over, the mechanicals and 90% of the body was done, Id like to get into the interior tho...leaky windows need channel repair and someone patched the floor WAY back with a street sign and silicone. Other than that car is done....going to snap some pics in a few minutes.

Keep this thread alive! One of the most underrated Fords ever to roll off the line, and in my estimation, one of the best looking!

The gas door I have has the emblem, which is why I bought the door, so Im keeping the emblem. You can get them repopped now from one of the Ford catalog guys, I just cant remember which one. If you want the door Ill let it go for $10.00 plus shipping, I can take a pic if youd like, but first I have to find it

  27. Yeah, I know that's why it has taken me so long! At this point just finding a set would be good, nevermind the price. I've only seen one set and I would have bought it but the guy totally polished them and wanted top dollar for them. I don't want polished, but now I'm wondering if I shoulda just paid the man:rolleyes:
