My friend is working on this Contemporary Fiberglass bodied Thames. He rarely visits the H.A.M.B. so I'll post for him (he is GlassThames Doug on gasser madness)
I understand this car came out of the same mold as "King Kong".

You might want to go to Gasser Madness and send a PM to GlassThamesDoug I remember seeing a complete Anglia front axle assembly including radius arms (drilled axle) at his place.

  5. A buddy of mine is restoring the Stickel & Riffle / Rod Shop Anglia. The paint and interior are finished and he hopes to have the drivetrain done by early summer. He plans to have the car at the Goodguy's PPG Nats in Columbus, Ohio in July. The car was repainted by the same guy that originally painted it for The Rod Shop. He used the same patterns, colors, etc. (even the gold leaf lettering was duplicated like it was in the 70's). He hopes to race the car in nostalgia classes next year.

Mine, haven't started on it yet, but it won't be a gasser, that's for sure...

Most likely it'll get a 2.3 and a 5 speed. It'll be the get around town ride...

  10. Hey Brandon,

I agree on the wheels! A few of us have tried to get him to put a set of Crager s/s wheels on it. Thanks for posting the pics of the car with it's green color scheme......I had never seen it that color. Actually, some of us tried to get him to use the final Rod Shop (red/white/blue) scheme, but he went with the Stickle & Riffle / Rod Shop version. Got to give credit, Tony probably saved the car from being parted-out (or worse). It will be great to see it going down the track again!

My ´48 Anglia is still resting. I´ve been collecting parts but perhaps I´ll sell the whole project. There's just no sense building a car like that here in my country because you are pretty much forced to use a tiny motor in it. Maybe I could build it just for race but that's not really my thing. Well we´ll see what happens, it´s a nice car though. Thanks for an inspiring thread! Keep ´em coming!

  23. All you Anglia/Pop/Thames guys might want to check out my old workin' buddy Dean's website, <www.angliaobsolete.com>
He and I used to work at a VW magazine together, but don't let that stop you- he has a really nicely restored '54 Prefect, an old Gasser Anglia, and an all-original Thames, plus, the guy has parts for them... his garage is FULL of 2-hole grilles, fenders, etc etc. He's been to England and New Zealand on his travels to get English Ford parts, and he lives in North San Diego County.
Tell him the editor formerly known as "kaferdave" sent you

for some reason, the website didn't come though- let's try this again- www.angliaobsolete.com

This is what I use to get to work most days:

It's running a hot rebuilt sidevalve motor (I did a build diary on here a while back) and 12 volts but is otherwise stock. It's a lot of fun to drive :D

I used to run a stock '62 2 door, with the wheezing 1172cc sidevalve lump, and I regret selling it.
A pretty good four door was towed away from the car repair shop opposite my work yesterday, I'd been meaning to ask about it, too late now!

Jonny69's engine rebuild is the stuff of legend, real kitchen table and what comes to hand building. I hope to see it next Tuesday, back at the Ace.

    That's a hint if ever I heard one :D

Won't be able to make it next week. I need to put a new clutch in and Tuesday nights is when I see my friend with the big lathe. He's going to shave a bit of weight off my spare flywheel for me, it's basically a flat disc so we might as well go crazy on it!!!

    hi,
this is my ford pop hot rod.(yes its been on here before!!!)
runnin a boxed chassis with extra x-membersand chassis rails.
front pop beam axle has been moved to front end of chassis and mounted suicide style.
rear axle is a volvo mounted on coil overs and ladder bars, with a panhard rod for sideways location.
front brakes are ford sierra vented discs, rear are also discs(standard volvo) homemade pedal box etc with a sierra servo and m/cylinder.
    engine is rover v8, from a p6 rover 3500s.
gearbox is from same vehicle, a 4 speed manual, with a shortened gear selecter.
engine fitted as standard apart from chrome valve covers on adapter plates, and edelbrock 500 4 barrel carb with edelbrock performer inlet manifold.
cooled by a heavy duty sierra radiator.
front sheet metal on car is from a ford prefect(prepop!?!)
wheels are 15" rears (on wide five pattern) wide white x-plys, fronts are 15" again on w/w x-plys.
interior will be plain and simple.minor seats, plain door cards, rubber mat floor etc.
    colour to be shit brown(satin)
i think thats enough for now.
    cheers poprodder.
