The Anglia looks a bit different. I saw you had it for sale. With the blown BBC it looks like it will be fun. I got a blown sbc for my small truck.

Since we have an Anglia thread going this might be the place to ask for help. A good friend of mine Frank Cali passed away this past April, he was half of the Cali Bros. team that built and ran an A/G Anglia in the mid 60's. Frank always wanted to find the car andrestore it but after his brother John died he said it just wasn't the same. My brother and I would like to find the car and restore it as a tribute to Frank and John Cali. Frank once mentioned to me that the car was in the Northeast, if any Hambers know of the car or have pictures please let me know.
    Thanks alot
    Pat

Do dig that ute. Maybe we should have kept some of those old Anglia bodies we dumped in the swamps all those years ago.

Built from whatever was lying around and very little money. 2ltr Pinto, 5 speed, goes well and is great driver. It,s coming apart again this winter for finishing and paint.

My first car was a 1958 Anglia Coupe. We’re talkin’ the late 1960’s here. Picked it up for $25.00, the engine was sitttin’ in a box next to it, having been blown up. Hauled it home, my Dad took one look at the babbet bearings on that flathead 4 banger and said no way are we messing with that. I wanted to put a V8 in it but because he was helping me financially on the rebuild, we were gonna do his way. So he tracked down a local guy who raced Anglia’s and we scored a Ford 105E block and 4 speed manual tranny off him and put that in the car. I had so much fun with that car for the eight years I drove it…

So came time to sell it I think, not counting gas & oil, We’d only put about $600.00 into it in all that time counting the initial rebuild. Well I trashed the Mac Pherson Strut front suspension & had know idea were I was gonna get the part’s to fix it. So I put it up for sale $45.00, As Is! It was time to move on anyway. So this guy shows up at my house driving a Korean War era military surplus Dodge 4x4 ambulance. I’d seen him around town, I knew he was a mechanic at a local garage. He comes to the door and inquires about the car. I tell him every thing I know to be true about the car. He decides to buy it so I give him all the receipts I’ve saved to document the work we did. I have him sign an "As Is" agreement, took my money, gave him the Pink, wave good bye to the Anglia and that was it… I thought.

One night a few weeks later there’s a knock on the door, and there’s the guy standing there… "Did you know that the Main’s were going out? Allot stuff shoots through my mind… I tell him truthfully that I knew there was allot of work to do on that car, but the Mains were not one that I was aware of. And besides I sold you the thing for $45.00, As Is! And you are a mechanic what did you want anyway for that kind of money?! So he turns away looking kind of pissed and storms off my porch. And that was the end of it… I thought…

A couple of years later a busload of kids & their driver get kidnapped from a small CA town, Chowchilla. To make a long story short… they catch the guy’s that did it and they are from a town right near mine. So I’m watching the news and they’re doing a story on why they did the kidnapping to get money to buy and restore this local historical mansion. And to illustrate the point of how the "Master Mind" of the kidnapping is a compulsive collector of old stuff. So they show footage of his back yard to show all the old cars he had stored back there… And right smack dab in the middle was my old Anglia! I had sold it to the infamous "Master Mind" of the Chowchilla kidnapping!

That’s my "Truth is stranger than fiction!" Anglia story…

The shells/bezels are early cab lights or GM backup lights with swapmeet glass lens, the 12v guts are from motorcycle sidebag marker lights.
