Any chance of getting a Murdersickle area on the HAMB?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by mytlo56, May 7, 2004.

  1. Yep, I know that this place is designed and intended for traditional rods and kustoms. But lots of us are also into and own old Harleys and Triumphs.

Just a bunch of kit bike, billet crap sites out there to date. Sure would be neat to have a resource like the HAMB. Wish I had the skills to make it happen [IMG]

I think 'The Horse' has a webboard ... I suspect they would swing toward a jockey shift vs. a billet gizmo [IMG]

I'd love to see a Cycle Section. big plus if it drew NO seperating lines between Hondas, cafe racers, choppers, bobjobs, Zundapps, Harlies and Dneprs.

    I'm for it, no question.

I am not into Bikes even though I love to look at the old ones and appreciate the sentimental value and engineering prowess gettiing them on the road. But I am sure that there are Plenty of bike forums out there. I vote No. sorry

  6. Well... I dunno... Afterall the HAMB is a traditional rod & custom board.
I would love it if we could get a bike section, but would also understand if Ryan would not allow it.

On the other hand... Ryan lets us chat about our Triumphs here a lot lately. He even said he loves those old bikes too!

Haha... Gives me a quick chance to test my Photobucket account!

BTW... How do ya'll like the Sportster bars..?

    Damn that bike looks good.

I think I like the sportster bars better than the z-bars on your bike. Get the mag sorted out?

As far as seperating the board...I don't think it's necessary. We've had trad bike stuff on here for a while now and it seems to have worked out ok. I imagine those who don't want to read about bikes already skip over these posts.

By the way, the Horse's message board (Back talk) really isn't all that into our style of bikes. IMHO, I've seen more cool stuff here than I've ever seen on that board.

Hot rods and Harleys are all part of the culture.

Watching the trendy custom bikes being built exclusively from new parts makes me appreciate the authentic bobbers, choppers, flat-track racers, and cafe racers that much more. Give me a mid-Sixties-style bar-hopper or a Norton road racer any day. (And I don't think I've ever told you how much I love Ducati and Moto Guzzi race bikes.)

If I was as much of a chopper guy as I am a hot rod and race car guy, I wouldn't know where to find a message forum.

By providing a place for them, having a bike forum would provide a place for a lot of the off-topic posts to go so those of us who don't care about them wouldn't have to deal with them.

The flip side of this is that this is a car board on a car site. It's probably not going to happen. After all, we're all into good music, too, and we're not likely to have a HAMB forum for discussing that.

And by the way, Austin is still Stevie Ray Vaughan's town.

    I'm pro-motorcycle.

If Ryan wants to create a motorcycle section - cool.

If he doesn't and just chooses to allow the motorcycle posts to continue without deleting them - also cool.

    Oh yeah,

Dutchman, that bike is looking nicer than a new set of tits. [IMG]

  12. Bass... I'll post about the whole mag problem tomorrow. I'm gonna make a test spin tomorrow... It's a long story!

I will also include some more pics for you guys then!

I also painted the tank for the time being. It got kinda rusty all the time. The frame works good with the WD40 on it. I might have the tank striped next week too.

hey dutchman, love your bike, but you left out one crucial detail,a white rubber kickstart pedal [IMG]

  14. Flyingdutchman - those bars look so good, the whole bike kicks ass..

As far as a separte area, yeah I would check it out, but if Ryan does not allow it, there is a real good one goes by the name Fuck! choppers&punk rock..

i say go for it, great idea.

the hamb is the place for those with slightly different tastes in cars, a place for bikes would fit in fine. the horse board is good for what it is. the people that build bikes here don't quite fit in with the mainstream, even on the horse board. i've lurked over there, and quite a few posters there are here already.

there is this one website my brother came across. he said its just like the HAMB, but instead of cars it was motorcycles. ill ask him bout it when he comes home.

  18. I'm into bike...have been for years. I'd like to see a seperate section for scoots but then again I came here for the cars. If Ryan says seperate is good then cool, if not then I'll still see some kick ass scoots when i read what is posted here on the HAMB. I like the mix.

Here is a site that has a mix of stuff including a few cars!

  22. Guys like machines, right?

And if they come with wheels, so much the better.

I've enjoyed the bike posts that have come along and so far it's not overdone.
Interesting to see what kind of two wheeler a guy or gal will build. Specially so once you see what they have built and/or like far as four wheels go.

I'd say leave the HAMB as is, let the bikes come in like they do now and I'm sure the self filtering qualities of the HAMB will clean out anything that doesn't fit the traditional role.

Didn't we all enjoy AV8's post of his Dudaka?
Two wheel hot rodding at it's best.

Like Dave says, Harleys - and Trumpets - were part of the hot rod scene back in the day.

Cut down and built engine Harleys were the two wheeled hot engined roadster of the bike set and to my eye, still pretty much that way today.
    The Trad ones anyway.

Just my opinion as an ex - Gold Star, Ducati and a host of other knobby tired wonders from days past owner.... [IMG]

  24. Oh you just wait. I'll have it up here as soon as the "makeover" is complete.

Beetle, you hit the nail right on the head. If I posted pic.'s right now everyone would say "oh, that's Russell's scoot." Now we can't have that, can we?

All I can say is that it's going from clean resto. bike to clean scare the kids and neighbors bike. No stupid shit, just a little more attitude and a little less paint.

Now c'mon Ryan. Get us a murdersickle area on this here HAMB! I'll auction some more of my shit off if ya' do.

Yeah, some of those boards are cool and all, but they'll never be as cool as the HAMB... thats why a bike subsection would rock... we're into bikes, and we're all unified thru hotrod/kustom/newbie-bashing/Germbonics-pondering... and we could assimilate many non-cycle-riding hambers into being just like us... MWUHAHAHAHAHAAAH!

Just a couple requests, tho... aside from vintage trumps and hogs, we must allow cafe racers, jap choppers, minibikes, and Fat Hack's motorized girl's bike...

    and maybe Roth-esque trikes...

There... we have a catch-all for any less-than-4-wheeled motorized mechanical bastardization... as long as its "trad" looking! perfect! [IMG]

We don't need no stinking areas!

What is cool and easy is the fact that the HAMB is NOT broken up into a bunch of small sections, that mostly get ignored because they are out of sight-out of mind or too much trouble to negotiate.

Just be clear in the SUBJECT LINE what the fuck the thread is about so people will know whether they want to go there OR NOT instead of just putting stupid titles on stuff like WTF? or "I need a..."
    That's just irritating.

    Dr. J, Right on!!
look at this site. The same type of forum design but Broken up into sections and as dead as a doornail. Be clear on your subject line..... Quit putting help me.. or I'm confused or ...what the fuck. That way we don't have to spend so much time going through everything.

    I'm with DrJ 100%.
We don't need any fragmentation of a good thing. I'm pretty sure that just about everybody on this board that has a motorcycle also has a car, including Flying Dutchman. He never talks about it because it's a gayass Camaro.
