Thanks TheFrenZ! Once I get it out of the garage I will take some full side shots so you can see the whole profile. True, it's not period correct but that's OK. By the time I'm done with the bumper most people won't know what it even came from.:D

Thanks glassguy, sweet rides! I definitely will keep up the posts. Here is a pic of the color and for all you traditionalists, don't worry the air cleaner and valve covers will be changed in time. Probably will go with a green and off white (like the firewall) Caddy cleaner.

Dave, those are some cool pics !

crusader, your Ford is gonna be just right.Cool.By the way,you know this hardtopped Sedan ? Was built by Rick Abona and his dad.Chop was done by Frank DeRosa. This is an older pic.Car was painted satin copper the last time I saw it.The angle of the pic is so nice and I love that Ford.Gorgeous.One of the best Shoebox Fords ever.

Thanks TheFrenz, it's coming along and I'm realizing the dream. You never say never, but I can't imagine ever selling this car.

I have only seen this shoebox online but never in person. There was a shoebox that was chopped that was shown in the Jan 2000 Custom Rodder (I think) by DeRosa and I am not sure if it is this car but the hardtop conversion was the inspiration for my chop. I loved the semi-fastback look but wanted to make sure that my roof didn't appear to sharp with everything else being rounded. Another inspiration was the Quesnel Merc as I think it is arguably one the best Mercs (and most underrated) out of the Barris Kustoms stable. The Abona Shoebox is also a great combination of design elements but I think the paint hurts all the work that was done. Like I wrote before, I hope the fad starts to die.

The Quesnel Merc is such an inspiration that I have debated between a Hirohata grille and two bullets on the ends like the Quesnel for sometime. If the thickness of the grille doesn't look right to get close to the Hirohata I will probably end up using bullets on the end of the Riv's bumper and building a Hirohata later and swaping them once in a while.

It's supposed to rain quite a bit this weekend but if it clears up at all I'll pull the car out and get some side shots...

Have a radically chopped, (about 8 inches) 1951 Studebaker Commander. 350/350, early Vette rear end. Will debut it at the Goodguys run here in a couple of weeks. Still can't figure out how to post pictures, but can email them to anyone who knows how.
