I called but got a series of bust signals.
Maybe someone else can try calling
Maybe the because of the new owners

received from people who had heard that the 49er was
being put-up for sale, asking for an update on its status
and expressing concern for its future, we're pleased to
report that while it has in fact been sold, the new owners
are inclined to preserve the presence of the past .. and
it continues to operate as a Drive-in (which will continue
a nocturnal tradition that was begun here back in 1956).
Their season runs from April thru September, and the
screen is lit-up with a double feature 7 nites a week

I stopped by the 49er last night since I was in Valpo for the cruise-in. I talked with the people in the booth. I gave them my name and number to give to the owner. They said the owner(s) name is Steve and Mike Cotton I believe. They also told me that they have 2 car shows a year. So I think that is a good sign. By the way, that phone number is only the number for the list of what movies are playing.

Lets try this again.....I made contact through email with the owner, he would be interested in talking to an organized group about a show/movie at the Theater. Lets see show of hands of the interested & try to set a date to head to the 49er in force. Join the Indiana Hambers group!

I don't think that's an Issue right now, Let's just gather up a group and start going. I Haven't done much in the last few years, trying to change that this season.

I would definately go and be willing to help set something up. I agree, we should start by just setting up a HAMB Movie night maybe? Maybe a few times this summer? And if we can get a decent gathering, maybe work on a show from there...

Gather a Group at a Valpo or Chesterton Restaurant Leave for the 49er together, park together? Is Pumps on 12 still open? That was a cool old Gas Station in it's Day, they used to have a good pizza.

Hell, that aint to far from us...some of the Rodsters should be able to make it. That sounds fun!

We have been working (slowly) with the City of South Bend on a car show in downtown South Bend. We have a few local businesses that are in on it, and there was some stuff happening, but lately it seems like we hit a road block. We wanted to start off pretty much no restrictions on cars, and narrow it down as the years pass.
