The seal for my rear window caught my attention yesterday. It's time to schedule a seal replacement. I would like to do this and not have it pop up again in 5 yrs. due to poor rubber. What has your experience been with the seals you have used. I've looked at Steel Rubber and Rubber the Right Way, both say they are made in the US.
Both of those are good quality. Most of the seals for my wagon came from Concours Parts and I haven't had a problem with any of them although it's only been about 1 year and hasn't been wet much. I think some was Dennis Carpenter brand and some was other brand I can't remember name of.. All of it installed without issues.
With Steele you get great quality, but it may cost more, we have in the past had members complain of Dennis Carpenter's rubber quality since Dennis p***ed away and his son took over some products are now offshore produced.
Thanks, Guys. I've also heard that about DC. Steele is about double Rubber the RW but may be worth it in the long run.
Good information. I need to pull my windshield and rear gl*** at some point to reseal them as well as do the headliner. Thanks for the reviews.
FYI.....RubberTheRightWay is the west coast distributor for Dennis Carpenter. I just got off the phone with Clayton, RTRW manager (had to order some window channel clips). I use 'em cuz stuff gets to my door a lot faster and he always ships as cheaply as possible. Not to mention they always give a 5% discount and they're all about customer service. As mentioned, Steele is usually double the price. Apparently, Steele manufactures their own window seals. I now DC imports a lot of small rubber parts from China but I believe they manufacture their own window seals too.
Order the 1949-72 Full size catalog from this company (it's Free) they own the company that makes window seals and the fuzzies and are USA made. https://cl***icautoparts.com/free-catalog
This is who sold me my fuzzies kit. Seemed to be good quality and a good fit. https://www.frpartsstore.com/
Here's a update on what I've learned about 3 of the rubber parts suppliers. Steele Rubber made in USA per there adds. Cl***ic Auto Parts, I spoke with them on the phone. I gave the windshield part # and asked if they could tell me who there supplier was. I was told that there products are supplied by either Dennis Carpenter or Precision Made (Thailand). The windshield seal was DC. Also called Dennis Carpenter. I was told that they made most of there rubber products in house but some were outsourced overseas. I gave them the same part #. The rep I was talking to told me how to see where a part was made. Once you find the part you need, click on it and it will bring up that part. Once you do that scroll down to the details. If you see their standard shipping info and the Made in USA flag it's made here. If you don't see those it's outsourced which is why standard shipping doesn't apply. Today I ordered my back window and windshield seals from DC.
