Old thread or not, I've got hands on experience with one.
I bought one of the first ones available from P&J with the Superbell logo in the middle.
The thought of a forged axle with less unstrung weight appealed to me.
The axle had been on the car all through the long 10+ year build period.
Then when I got it on the road, Dave Simard was doing some work on it and noticed that the axle had a lot of negative camber in it.
Granted, it was one of the very first axles they had sold, and I do have a heavy Hemi in it, but it surprised us.
Calling P&J, they admitted the early axles flexed with weight, and I should re-bore the king pins for the proper camber.
We soon had chromed, forged steel axle under it with no problems.
I now have a beautiful piece of wall art!

Any chance of starting a thread on this ?
I appreciate that it may not be considered traditional though.
    Thanks

  8. i think its funny how guys claim to have traditional hot rods. hot rods have always progressed through time. four bangers to flat head v-8s to overhead valve v-8s etc. as new parts were introduced to go faster or look better they were put on cars. no different today. so it just goes to show there is nothing traditional about only using old parts. hot rodders were constantly upgrading. putting on a brand new aluminum axle is most certainly traditional. its what we have been doing for years upgrading to the latest and greatest. there is a difference between traditional and a time capsule.

I have to agree with racer-x . Anything will bend when enough force is applied. Relating to racer-x pics , i would be comfortable running one if I wanted to spend that green.
