If this is a private trash company, there should be some public information available on the corporation, and therefore the ownership of the company. Do some homework. A private investigator may be very helpful in develpoing some info. He may be able to locate additional property owned by the same people, both in the form of commercial property and private property (as in, their residences). These are the places I would stake out & watch for your stuff. If one of their additional properties is a body shop or s**** outfit, you hit the jackpot. Walk right in & ask about having some work done or whatever fits & see if they'll allow you to look around.

If you can get a visual on your stolen cars, have an ***ociate (or a P.I.) watch the stuff while you go to the police. I personally would go to the media before the cops & explain the situation, as well as the fact that you suspect there is some reason that local law enforcement is not helping you, and lay it all out for them. Ask if they will have one of their reps (preferably with a camera) there with the person watching your stuff, and also someone to go with you to ask the police for help. You're handing them a pretty hot story that is essentially pre-packaged. If the cars move while you are there at the police station, then obviously someone in the dept is profitting from the trash company's activities (it is unlikely that the entire force is in on it). The key is seeing where your stuff is moved to, and having this activity do***ented by the media (as in FILMED). Either way, when you advise the police that you have located your stolen property, show them the do***entation of the stolen reports you've filed, and you request their help recovering your property in the presence of a media rep, I personally don't see any reason that they would refuse to ***ist. They would look pretty shady at that point, and the press would be all over them.

It's a shame that you would need to go to these lengths to get the police to help, but stranger things have happened.

Yeah, that's all important, because if you didn't follow the cop's procedure to the tea, then auto theft is legal and you're not worthy of any justice or investigation. I don't see how any of that **** should keep the cops from looking into this.

Doesn't look like it, and unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me either.

I too am not a cop, but I love cars of most any kind:D
1st: Who owns the property that the cars were taken from:confused:
2nd: Were you cited previously for having unregistered vehicles on the property:confused:
3rd:Did an officer come to your location and take a stolen vehicle report:confused:
4th:Was anybody complaining to you about the vehicles:confused:

The reason that I ask, is that I too have 2 yards full of cars as well as my drive way. But most are covered & are moved frequently, some are on non-ops & others are just parts, I am sure that my neighbors are not happy with the sight of some of them, but when they get finished they seem to enjoy them as do I.
If you intend to stick around there, go make friends with them, let them know that this is a beautification project to rid the world of unsightly old cars & to instead show that the US was a truly great place to be a consumer & buy it's US made products, & with the restoration that you are undertaking wlill lead to many more jobs staying in US and keeping the unemployment rate down.
In other words, you are being a good patriotic citizen just like they think they are.;)

When I saw this thread I sent a link to it to a friend of mine who is a Detective with the Thurston County Sheriff's Office. He also happens to be a Bonneville racer.

Here is part of his response. Quote:

"I read the E-mail you sent me and all the posts. I can help this guy if I knew who he was and how to get in touch with him. It appears I can't write to him. Let me know what you can on how to get ahold of him."

If you E-mail me your name and contact information, I will forward it to him.

  8. Contact your state representative.

It's an elected position, and puts someone between you and the local authorities and the state capitol.

Don't abuse 'em. Call on them only in times like this, when local, town or county government fails you. I've had mine take up issues for me, and with amazing results.

Sometimes, people only like to do their job when someone higher on the food chain bites 'em in the ***.

1.It was my fathers property, free and clear. The cars were stored in a barn, out of sight.
2.its so far out in the country that it was never a problem for them.
3.they never did make it out to take the report, they said theyd be there two different times but they never showed. I had to go to the sheriffs office and file the report since the local p.d said they couldnt do it???
4.not that i know of, but it is a high crime area supposedly, lots of meth makers in the backwoods areas like that supposedly.

and of course, im not intending to do any "rambo" stuff, ive enough trouble already. I wish i knew what the trash hauling company was that took my vehichles but the sherifs dept. wouldnt release me the name.

Id been "on them" since the cars were first stolen, it took me over a week to just get them to take down the report, or actually, to find someone who would take the report. I was under the false impression that if your cars were stolen all you had to do was report it to the local police and theyd help you out, i didnt know there were "hoops" and procedures to go through.

  10. Sorry to hear about the problems, someone definately dropped the ball on this. I've been an officer for 15 years and here are a few things you can do. First, you should have stayed on them by calling at least once a week, but since you didn't...start now. Find out who the investigating officer is and their supervisor and stay in contact with them. Follow the chain of command (up the ladder if you will) by going over their head if you feel you are not being taken seriously. Constant contact will keep the case "fresh" in their mind and make sure they know you still care about getting it solved.

Lets face it...all of us can be lazy and if you don't seem to give a **** chances are they will not either. Above all be polite and professional...people would rather help out a "good guy" than an "***hole". You can also check with the NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau) if it is still called that...they deal strictly with auto theft.

Hope this helps....if you have any other q's shoot me a PM and I'll try to get back ASAP.

I know your pain. My 48 was destroyed in a hit and run years ago. The only thing the cops were woried about was how much paperwork they had to do.

I searched for the car myself. I knew exactly what kind of car that did it due to a piece of bumper that was left behind. I called the cops and filled them in on what to look for. They first asked me how I knew what kind of car it was then told me to leave the police work to them. They didn't give a **** about my truck.

Never heard from the cops again and never found the hit and run driver. I had a few leads over a year or two and even got some help from an out of state cop friend but the local cops ****!

It's late, and I haven't read all the posts...but I had this same thing happen to me down in Florida.
My customized truck was stolen out of my driveway, and recovered stripped two days later.
Six months later, I'm cruising down I-4 in Orlando (45 miles from Lakeland), and look in my rear view and there's my ****ing front bumper cover! Get next to the guy, and he's got wheels and tires that look like mine, factory fender flares, and my roll pan. His truck is the same color as mine was, so it was all a bolt-on. I followed him to a 7-11, and looked at the parts closely--I'd modified most everything to fit. And having done it all for magazine stories, I had photographic proof back at the house. I told the donut-eater inside the story, she questioned the owner who said he got the parts at a swap meet. Without the police file number, it was my word against his until the cop could get in contact with the Sherrif in my town.
Waited for a couple weeks, and then called the Sherrif. He never heard anything from Orlando PD, and I got the same "we don't get along with them" story.
A couple months later, I saw the guy again and took down the plate number, and gave it to the Sherrif. He told me that since the insurance company had paid me, I was no longer the victim, the insurance company was, and they probably wouldn't do anything about it, and since he was the only person in Polk County who handled stolen vehicles, he didn't really have the time.
I called the insurance company to tell them, and they really didn't want to do anything either.
No woner Polk County, Florida is the crank capital of the country--the cops don't deal with crime!
My insurance company DID take good care of me for the truck, but it still pisses me off.
I moved out of the state...my experiences with the law contributed to the move.
I didn't persue it personally because I'm not Rambo, and getting shot stealing my parts back wasn't worth it. I'll let Karma deal with it. And it will.

You know what ****s? Out of ALL the message boards I frequent, there is a cop on every single one of them. And that one cop, always says the same thing. If it were me, I would have...

IF these guys arent full of **** ( which on the Hamb I know they aint ) then WHY do we all get stuck with the lazy pencil pusher when there is that one guy at every station that actually does give a ****>?

I have had many a thing stolen from my garage. I dont bother call the PD anymore, I catch the theifs in action and deliver a beat down like they will never recieve again. Sometimes, me knowing they got what was comming is 10 times better payment then wondering if they were cited by the local PD

My sons low $ Honda tunner rat rod was stolen in Milwaukee, and he reported it a hour later. A month later he got a parking ticket in the mail, for 4 hours after he reported it!
It took some leg work, but we finally got them to drop the ticket!!!
I guess the cops are to busy outlining bodies in the getto, to take time with car ****. :(

It was a red car, with yellow flames that ran from the front bumper back
and ended on the doors! ..........THEY NEVER FOUND IT!

I had almost the same thing happen to me....dad's restored, licensed, operational model A pickup stored in a locked building on his property. When He died, I inherited the truck. When the snow went off the Rockies, I drove an empty trailer from Omaha to Oregon to claim my truck.....locked shed was empty when I got there. I drove to town and filed a stolen car report, called every week for months, had flyers printed up and distributed locally.........nothing happened. Still haven't heard a word for the last 3 years....I even posted photos of it on the HAMB....still gone......
This truck had been in our family since 1930 when it was new........pisses me off every time I think of it......
Crackheads across the road had their trailer reposessed and they disappeared a week before I arrived to claim my truck...
***le is in my name. Truck's VIN is on the NCIC hot sheet......still nothin

there's so many cops that are ***holes. but why is it like that? because they can get away with it. no one really checks (as in checks and balances) the cops, except for internal affairs, maybe, but that's generally reserved for bigger cop corruption, not the piddly daily stuff, like indifference or intimidation.

i remember once my friend and i were riding out bicycles in waikiki and we witnessed a hit-and-run by a limo on a moped. the girl went down. cars wouldn't stop. so we rode over, and tried to get the cars to slow down and go around. we called 911. 2 minutes away there's a police substation. no cop or ambulance showed up for 45 min, and in the meantime, the girl's lying on the ground, bleeding. no one else is stopping to help. finally the cops show up and the first thing they say to us is, "DON'T DO OUR JOB."

"serving and protecting with aloha," my ***.

that said, kudos to the cops doing their job and with professionalism. you kids are a rare bunch.

What an ***. You should be made to pay back your salary WITH INTEREST - splitting it up a**** everyone in the area that you are SWORN to "serve & protect"!!!
Lets face it: every since the cops were allowed to confi****e & sell property (cars, bikes, homes, etc.) that they SUSPECTED were involved in crime - then SPEND THAT MONEY on their own "law enforcement" (read TOYS), THEY DO NOT GIVE A **** ABOUT ANYTHING THAT DOSEN'T GENERATE MONEY FOR THEM!!!! The ***holes in the Fulton Co. (Ga.) police did not even run a rap sheet on the persons we suspected stole EVERY ****ING THING that I had worked the previous FIFTEEN ****ING YEARS for!!! Not only that, but a year & a half later I found out one of them was in the Cherokee jail: talked to the detective there & she said she had him on FOURTY counts of burgulary & that Forsyth Co. & Virginia had warrents for him - & THE ****ING FULTON DETECTIVE WAS *STILL* NOT INTERESTED IN HIM!!!! ****ING cops have NEVER done anything FOR me - only HARR*** me - EVEN THOUGH I'M a law-abiding citizen!!! **** THEM!!!! (my apology to the .00001% of the good cops out there!!!)

As a matter of fact I do. I have had to deal with an explosive temper all my life. I was arrested once because of my temper and I have broken three bones in my right hand because of it. As I posted, Iv'e been there and had a car stolen. If your comment wasn't about me not recommending pounding a guys head in until it is a ****** pulp but instead questioning my dedication and love of cars your wrong there too. And evaluating someone else's feelings and emotions by making a statement like you did seems to me to be jumping to conclusions. My intentions were to help, not insult.

  21. Gee Paul....sorry I offended you. But when you get right down to it...doesn't everyone pay everyone's salary in some way, shape, or form? Sorry to hear you've gotten some bum deals....I think I'll just leave it at that.

I'm not questioning your love of cars, we all love cars, that's why we are here. However, I do think it is cowardly that you are willing to "let it go"-that's ******** and I really don't think you would! One car is bad enough but if you read it again, Malaguena had "cars" as in more than one, taken from him, how could you let that go? If that is how you are going to deal with this kind of stuff, brace yourself, people are going to take advantage of you and steal your **** for the rest of your life. Stand up, be a man, and fight for what is YOURS! You work hard for what you have, right? It boggles my mind that someone would just lay down like that. As far as jumping to conclusions, I never said anything about beating a guys head in- YOU jumped to that conclusion, and that my friend along with your explosive temper, is what gets you in trouble.

Due to my poor typing skills I've wasted waaay too much time on this ******* match -I'm done -blast me if you want to...or just "let it go''...

I work as a cop here in beautiful exotic Philly. Do what Fourdy says. Bring all your paperwork to the police station, make the report there. From what you say, it's still not do***ented as stolen items. If you do not get satisfaction, stop at a lawyer's office and get yer lawsuit on against the department, county,etc.... and to everyone who said such mean things about the Police, I hope your happy, you made me cry.

LOL. Are you one of the .00001%? If so I have the greatest respect for you & what you do. I just haven't met many of you; have met a LOT of the ***holes, though! I could write *volumes* on how I've been h***led, written bogus tickets, even had to pay a fine once without being allowed in the courtroom (ticket in hand) & with no one able to tell me what the charges were!!! (couldn't even read the ***hole's writing.) How they determined the fine I have no idea...
In another case even the cop - that I knew as "brother King" from visting the church that he went to several times - was not interested in the TRUTH when I was given a ticket in his city (by another cop - one of his good buddies). What a hyprocrite! (charges were not even brought up before a judge & dropped after I had to get out of bed at 4:00 AM in Al. just to drive to Ga. to court).
Tip of the iceburg. As I said: VOLUMES.

Sounds to me like there is more to this story than you are telling. If you own you're property, why would a "Trash Company" come haul away your personal property? At minimum there are tressp*** if not burglary charges that could be filed. Someone called you in, did the city send you notices of abandonment? If you pay rent, was your landlord sick of the "Junk" cars? How could someone come back FIVE times to reload? Sounds like a job to me, someone probably paid them. Why didn't any neighbors call you? What's the REAL story? I'm sorry this happened to you, but you may consider a lawsuit because this sounds like a civil case to me. If you know the name of the trash company, try snooping around their facility, if you see your cars sue them. Good luck.

I just read this whole thread. It's amazing to me that when one of these situations come up, after all of the posing and threatening we seem to still be without ALL of the facts. To me there are glaring omissions that NEED to be brought into account before anyone can take an intellegent stand in this case. If the intent was to brew a **** storm, congrats, you've accomplished your mission.
