I don't know the THING to do...but I think I know what I would do. I would get an attorney involved.

If you have witnesses, he can hire a private detective and get pictures of these guys. Once he has affidavits from your neighbors ID'ing them he can file a civil suit against them.

Make a very detailed inventory of everything that you have lost...all about each vehicle...anything that would justify what you say they were worth. Then file it in District Court. They have to appear, or be in contempt...not good.

If everything goes south and they leave the state...you can take the detailed list of all your stuff and cerimoniously burn it and give it up to the car-gods...from where all cool vehicles come.

The smoke from the paper is magic smoke and when the smoke reachs the car-gods they will see that they need to make it right for you...so keep your eyes open...they will send you a "deal in a million" (or some such ****).

I agree. We're long on knee-jerk reactions and short on facts here.

Same story here. I grew up knowing a ton of good people/cops and even when I was pulled over I always ran into good cops just doing the job.

I now live in a smallish town that's the county hub and the cops here are a bit over the top on a good day and the cl***ic ***hole cop on a bad one. Never just cops doing the job.

You guys need to get off the cops.

The same bureaucratic ******** that keeps them from being able to do their jobs effectively in helping you recover your stolen merchandise is the same **** that limits their ability to fight other crime. A lot of it is the result of litigation, or, in other words, the fact that there are an unscrupulous lot of people who are constantly trying to exploit mistakes and loopholes in order to get free money. We live in a society where most people believe that the way to get rich is to "sue someone".

MOST cops, and not the ridiculous .0001% like some of you suggest, have their hearts in the right place and are just tying to do their jobs, despite the endless limitations that have been placed on them by an overly litigous society.

Are there bad cops? Of course there are. There are "bad" people in every profession.

And yes, some of them are a little burned out. Well guess what? People treat them like ****. No one is lied to more, spit on more, and generally looked down on more than the cops. Most people have no problem coming right out and saying "I hate the ****ing cops", yet, we expect them to be there for us when we need them.

I don't remember the officer's names who saved my *** 10 years ago when I was in a BAD situation repossessing a car, but I remember their faces, and I will always be grateful. Sometimes it takes an experience like that to put things in the right perspective. 99% of the time I can handle my own problems, but none of us are infallible.

Bottom line, they have a really ****ty job. Walk a mile in their shoes and you'd probably have a little more understanding of the the things they're up against. Give 'em a break

Just to be clear. I have zero issues with the police. I've always had a ton of respect for them and what they do. I was just pointing out what I've noticed since I moved from an urban/suburban area to a small rural town. I agree the .0001% being good thing is total BS.

I'M the one that said .0001%: all I'm doing is speaking from personal experience. EVEN the cop I went to CHURCH with turned out to be a hypocrite - backing his buddy when I was STOPPED ILLEGALY & given A BOGUS ticket - which was dropped WITHOUT EVEN LETTING A JUDGE SEE IT!!! (wonder why *that* was, huh?)
I'm STILL constantly stopped without cause, which is ILLEGAL & therefore the COP IS BREAKING THE LAW!!! But they get away with it 'cause who is going to file charges against them - their BUDDIES who they LIE TO PROTECT????
THEN when my life is RUINED by ****ing theives they do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
There are many times I SHOULD have sued the ****ing ***holes!!!
There are bad bodymen but at least they do their job...
Don't even think I don't know what I'm talking about.

Five days ago, I posted this:

You still have not told me your full name or your phone number. He still has not heard from you.

While wondering who you are and where you're coming from, I looked at the posts you've made here before this thread, and it turns out you've started another thread about this, ***led Robbed in WA state:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71559

The longer you drag this out, the more your credibility slips away. Some good people are trying to help you. Tell me your first and last name and your phone number.

I'd take maters into my own hand and not waste money on an attorney. the internet is a wonderful source for information. If you have the the plate number log onto your state dmv and for a couple bucks you can find the the owner and adress and then do your own detective work. when you get a little proof then go to the press. that will put some preasure on the law enforement. I had truck stolen in Omaha and the cops told me simply we'll never find it and thats the last I heard until I got a letter stating the case is closed:mad:

    This morning I received this:

"I found out what happened in the case, and I should say cases. Reports were taken, an investigation was done, and it was determined that the whole matter was civil. It seems that the property owner let the property go into foreclosure, and the new owner cleared the abandoned vehicles out using a hauler. Notices were sent out to interested parties, who failed to respond. As a result, there were no law violations. His remedy is civil, not criminal. Thanks for being a concerned citizen and thinking of a guy like me to help. Take care, Detective Haller"

    DOH!

At least we were entertained by the usual suspects on these cop threads.....

malaguena - to quote Ricky, "Looks like your daddy got some 'splainin' to do"......

"1.It was my fathers property, free and clear. The cars were stored in a barn, out of sight."

or does he?.....This is in your first post on the "theft"...

"Guys im just throwing this out here in hopes someone here can help me locate my babies that were recently stolen out of my uncles barn in Lewis county."

    and this..

"5:30PM, i arrive at my uncles barn to see for myself whats stolen..."

    and finally...

"tthis morning the neighbor lady stopped by my uncles today and there were men there with an old pickup hooking it up to my uncles trailer. She asked them who they were and that a lot of cars had been stolen there recently. One cussed her out and told her to mind her own business. That they worked for "the bank" and were cleaning up the property"
