Hey guys, I'd like to run an engine turned dash panel in the '34. I have a bunch of stainless and Aluminum sheet, but I don't have the time/patience to turn a panel myself. I see that Eastwood sells pre-turned panels, but they seem pricey to me. I'm guessing I'll need something roundabout 8"x36", I figured around .040" thick, but Eastwood has .030" or .062", so anything in there could work. I can either buy a pre-done sheet (Aluminum or stainless, whichever's easier), or pay you to turn my material (probably 1/2" or 3/4" pattern). Let me know guys! Thanks! Steve

im not sure how "perfect" your car is but i can do engine turning...i do it by hand so its not factory looking but i guess its about right for a hot rod heres a thing i was working on with my name to set at work ...just to give you an idea its .063 3003 half hard aluminum i have no idea how to charge...i guess just however long it takes me? let me know if you have any interest zach
I posted a Tech on this a while back.... hope this helps http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36927&highlight=chaz If the link doesn't work search "Custom dash tech"
Get ahold of Goldenboy here on the HAMB he is a jewler and has a real engine turning machine from the 1930's and can do enamel badges and stuff like that.
There was a really good thread in the Tech O'Matic, but I guess that was a while ago. A milling machine makes it relatively simple, but it's still time consuming. Here's an link that might be interesting: http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~eamonn/et/et.htm Thanks, InDaShop, for the link to FPM. Not only are their prices much better than Eastwood's, but they also offer 0.063" stainless, which Eastwood doesn't. --Matt
