Any Hamb'ers out there got a '59 Biscayne? I got a local guy who has one for $550......... and it runs. I needs a makeoever, and a few pieces of glass. But it runs!!!! It's only got 54K actual miles and an inline six with a 3 speed on the column......... ohh and I forgot, a radio!!

Anyway, I thought I might pick it up but was wondering what some of the others looked like?

  2. For $550? damn I'd be on that like Breeder on crack! I think there is a thread of 59 Chevys....one of my all time favorites.

if the trim is good, especially grill and bumpers, this is a no-brainer. look around headlights for rust. floors and frame are rust-prone

Thanks guys, it's a 4 door, and all, i mean all of the trim is perfect. Even all of the marker lights are ok, weathered, but ok. The body had no rust other than surface, even around the headlights, and the only bad places I found was in the drivers floor board, and the truck, the rest was fine.

    Thanks, Mott

How about going to disc's on the front? Might be the first thing I do. I know EBC has a kit for it, and SSBC( who I'm a dealer for and get a great discount). I also thought about putting a v8 in it.....like a 348 or something similar, mainly different.

If you have to ask about his, you have not been on the HAMB long enough! You ought to know that 59 Chevys are one of the coolest cars you can find. Even a four door can be cool. Buy it, what else do you need to think?

Even if you just part it out, you will probably triple your money without even trying hard.

I like the look of the biscayne better than the belair or impala in '59.
I have a 59 belair 4sdn that will soon be turned into a biscayne.

    Good decision!
Remember, these were 1 year only cars, so finding replacement sheet metal, trim, etc is pretty hard, but plenty of places supply the lenses and mechanical stuff.

You can drop in any SBC in place of the 235. All you need is v8 mounts and you'll need to shorten the front half of the driveshaft. If it was an auto, the shifter will hook up to a TH350. SOmeone sells the adapter linkage.

If you get 61-64 hubs, you can have roller bearings which are a LOT cheaper than the 58-60 ball bearings. Everything else will bolt up to those hubs

I used 348/409 mounts for my 454, direct bolt in. Should be the same for the 59.

  24. I got my 4 door cheap too. It was 4 different colors when I goet her with a 235 six in it.I lowered her , different grille, etc. and put a small block 400 in her and drive her lots.

I'd rather have a Biscayne then an Impala. As they say: tighter and lighter.
