I spotted this tbird in the background of this old photo and am interested in its history.
Is it possible to check past records from Bonneville, 1955.
Thanks to Rich Venza for letting me post the pic, and for all the other great shots and info in the article.

Cool photo but I am more interested in the blonde who appears to be doing her best "Megan" imitation.....and is that a parachute they are using for shade?

Yeah, she does make a good first impression. I wonder how she's held up as well? She should be around 70.

    Don't know,
But here's some info on what is probably a different T-Bird at Bonneville,

It belongs to a local Rat Bastards Club Member "Big Tom"

At Bonneville in 69, and today with the flames.

The # 427 belonged to Joe Walden of Whittier. it ran a Verne Houle prepped 427, and Verne drove it over 200 mph. The other bird is an early version of L.W. "Knot" Farrington's "Hel's Angel". The next year this bird received a major make over with full on streamlining, and ran 242 mph.

  7. The young lady is one of Tommy Thompsons daughters, and yes, Tommy used huge cargo parachutes for shade. If you take a close look, there is more shade caused by the 'liner than by the chute.

Hot Rod Magazine used to list every entry in the October or November issue. The owners name and speed should be there.

I just went through my library, and as luck would have it, there is no complete listing with the Bonneville article in the November '55 Hot Rod.
