Today at work I found a motor. Me an the old man ( I install medical alert systems for the elderly) started talking cars...he just sold a 1930? 1ton international for 100.00! Well he starts talking about a 1956 buick motor he put in a rv years ago and wants to sell....this is where I get confused...it looks like a nailhead..it has horizontal valve covers...2bbl carb...but the distributor is in the front...i can't get any numbers cause its still in the rv...any ideas?
Sometimes the 215/300 is referred to as "baby nailhead" but this is not really correct. It has the valve covers stright up like the nailheads, but nothing else is really the same. Real nailheads have the distributor in the back and are a lot bigger, cubic inch and just overall size. The alum block 215 can be a neat engine. Use 300 crank and you can get a 300 inch alum block engine.
