I need too talk to an expert about getting some trim made.I want to run 55 Dodge Lancer side trim on my 56,mounted lower like on the 55 Chevy photo.I can't find any that's usable for a 2 dr.My thought is to have some milled out of flat stock and then chromed.

  2. which piece do you want made?
    the door and quarter trim?
that would be a real large piece and you would need a pretty good size bed on the mill.
what kind of material do you want it out of (aluminum i would think)
if you want all 4 pieces made it would be some serious $$$
I think you would be better off waiting and finding "good" OG parts
unless...... you want to make slight differences in them
also i am wondering if the back side of the trim may need to have the arc of the door 3d machined to match.. thats more $$$
    it could be done
    tk

It would be 6 pieces total,2 fenders 2 doors and 2 quarters. They are can be flat stock with the edges rounded.I would prefer steel so I can spot weld studs on the back side for mounting and cheaper to chrome also.

Im no guru but a buddy is,this has been a topic of discussion more than once.As mentioned a one off is going to be pricy if you dont have the tools to do it yourself.
Brass is a good candidate for trim chromes nicely and machines well.
Alluminum is a choice but 6061 doesnt chrome as well and 7075 cannot be welded easily
2024 is most likely a better choice.
Find someone with a wire edm and fabricate a extrusion die out of tool steel.
cut strips of stainless and draw it through some how........chain block to a moe clamp pulling the trim and affix the die to a bench. Just a thought or two Good luck Gary

I should of thought of this earlier but why can't they be cut on a water jet and then the edges rounded and then chromed?
