The annual swap meet at the Rosanky Auto Museum is this weekend (9/10-9/12). Rosanky is just south of Bastrop, TX.

I'm planning on going Friday and maybe Saturday....it's usually a good swap meet. I know that I usually see some of you Kontinentals there...just wondering if I can expect to run into any of you this year.

FWIW, there's also a car show attached the swap meet. I'm thinking about driving the shoebox down there.

  2. I hope to, but it depends on the misses.

Oh yeah, the Rudy's car show is Saturday as well at the Rudy's B-B-Q on N. 183. I will be skipping that one.

I was just about to ask this question. [IMG]
I will be there Saturday. I talked to the promotion guy and he said he has 1200 booths sold so there should be plenty to see.
Has anyone gone to the car museum there? Is it worth the time?

Yeah, I've been in the museum...it's worth checking out if you have the time. There's some pretty cool stuff in there you probably won't see anywhere else in South Texas.

Of course it's almost all resto stuff...but it's still pretty cool nonetheless.

I'm getting screwed out of my Friday off this week, so I won't be there. We got Monday off for the holiday so they take away our regular days of. Nice Labor Day, huh?

Here's a link to the CTMAH site.

    http://www.ctmah.org/

My best-man's father-in-law owns the museum and most of the cars in there. Up until a year or so ago, he was a die-hard resto guy, but he stumbled across a pimped out t-bucket last year and bought it, then bought a 32 billet rod, and now is talking about buying "real hot rods." I sent his daughter a link to Lukester's pickup [IMG].

My college roomate's dad is the guy that runs the shop there at Rosanky and is responsible for all of the restoration and fabrication they do there. He's also the crew chief for their "great race" cars, etc. It's amazing to see his work, the race car Burdick ran for years had the block cast by his dad (has "burdick special" cast into the side) cylinder head carved outta a chunk of aluminum, etc. Those motors have to be "factory appearing" so he disguised the freaking dry-sump system on it with brass and fabric wrapping, so it looks right outta the 20's... hahaha. They've tripled the HP of that ol Bentley!

I think I'm probably going to leave out pretty early tomorrow morning...maybe around 5-ish. I'd like to stay in Austin and go back down Saturday morning, but I haven't asked anyone about bumming a couch for the night yet. [IMG]

If you want to drive down with me you're more than welcome...let me know.

Yep...I fired the new motor on Tuesday night at about 11:30 (the neighbors must have loved that) after a half day-long starter catastrophe. And the motor's got so much compression it ate the new starter the next day! So I'm now on my fourth starter in 2 days. [IMG]]

I'm still breaking it in...but I drove it to Dallas and back last night without any problems. I'm crossing my fingers that it does OK down to the swap meet and back.

Let's just say that it runs pretty good for a 283! (yeah that's the ticket) [IMG]

Yer welcome here at the Honky House, Bass, it's way rustic, gnarly actually, but you're welcome, every band stays here anyway. We have loads of floor and a mattress or two for the living room floor. Total band house. Call if ya need it

I want to start a bidness called "Trim Trimmers", but I think she wants to be all professional and stuff. I think there is a market for specialty bush designs. Of course, we would do the basic hitlers and landing stips. But also lightning bolts, hearts, X marks the spot, and so on. Ya'll get the idea.

Only on the HAMB could a post about a swap meet turn into a discussion of feminine pubic hairstyles. I love it! If you do go into that line of work get a good supply of clothespins.
