I have a set of Doug Thorley Headers on a Suzuki Samurai. I'm pretty sure they are using his name.I don't know the actual manufacture. They are the best header for the Sam.Tri-y short tube ceramic coated and thick flange. His name still means something.

  2. The headers you have are Doug Thorley Headers which is owned by a company called Summit Industries (not related to Summit Racing). They bought that company after Doug's ex wife passed away ~ It is a different company than Doug's Headers that was Doug's company when his ex had Doug Thorley Headers, which is now ownd by PerTronix
    Confused yet?

I have a set of old "Doug Thorley" fenderwell headers for my chevy II. Not the same company as "Dougs Headers" from the sixties, right? These date from the seventies.

Just had a customer drop off Doug Thorely shorties for a front drive V8 Monte Carlo to me. Look to be a nice set of headers. The name still seems to mean quality.

I believe that was "Headers by Ed"

  7. Just saw this (only a little late) The headers you have were most likely from the era when Doug and Betty were still together. Doug had used the names Headers by Doug, Doug's Headers, and Doug Thorley Headers over the years. When they split, Betty's company was Doug Thorley Headers. He later restarted Doug's Headers which is the company that we (PerTronix) bought when he decided to retire again. By the way, we still make that Nova Fenderwell header, part #D365

was a WD for them in the 70's but not owned by Doug then. At that time the plant was over on Telegraph in Commerce (i think) just a bit west of Slauson.

Omer Clautier & Brad Anderson were the guys to go to at that time when they were working back in the factory / fab shop.

I've seen those guys whip out a set of headers in no time flat. probably could have done it with their eyes closed!

I think Omer has passed on but Brad Anderson, I hear, is big in the drag racing circuit.

Almost looks like he turned an old motel into a header plant!

I have not heard anything about him lately but think of him often. Glad he is doing well.
