Any one have a 1960 Falcon?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by OldCarPilot, Dec 21, 2006.

  1. That's pretty clean looking. In picture 6 the floor mat or carpet looks like it's over a hole in the trans tunnel.

I'm assuming you mean MII front end. The stock MII front end is a weld-in affair, and the 4-lug is a slightly different diameter than the Falcon so the wheels won't swap. But, the stock Falcon bottlecap hubcaps will fit the MII wheels. That's what I have planned next for my Falcon- stock MII front end, MII 8" rear end, and MII wheels with Falcon hubcaps.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

No hole in the trans tunnel. Its just where the carpet is folded weird.

my girlfriend just bought a 63. we are having slot of trouble becasue of weak motor mounts. look for rust in all the usual places, and make sure the motor mounts are good cuz if that engine torques over your clutch will fall right to the floor!

Neat car. I am sure the little jewel will talk to you, and tell you what it needs. The 200/C4/Maverick rear suggestion sounds pretty good to me, but it will certainly depend on your aptitude, ambition, and, of course, finances.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

  6. It looks killer condition. Congrats. I paid $2500 and mine was no where near as clean. NO where near. You're gonna really like this car, trust me, there are endearing.

Me and my dad have a 63 1/2 futura sports convertible, factory 260, ,t-10,black buckets, rangoon red outer. factory 5 lug to. Paid 200bucks for it about 12 years ago. still havnt done much with it due to us having a shithole garage in the ghetto here. Moved to a new 2 stall garage, 40x25, with huge ass yard infront, so exspect me to finnaly dig it out and work on it. cant wait.

Has a 289 in it now froma 64-65 fairlane. currently black laquer and needs new floors as they all do, but it will shine some day. I want to build the 289 as a injected unit, with the lowprofile stacks (FI, not EFI) need to start saving... =p

the back rear wheel wells have been radiussed 70's style so need to change that shit. Want to try and do the front radius mod like this amazing ranchero.

Wish i could take pics, but its packed like a tincan atm.

I want to shave it, leave it side trimless,

Yes i got lucky when i bought it. I was looking on the net for a wagon and saw lots of 4dr wagons for roughly the same money. Then this one turned up about 10 miles from my house. I've been cruising it for 3 summers but now it smokes so bad i quite driving it. I over heated it this summer and it's been all down hill since :O) It always ran hot even with a new water pump radiator ect ect.
