looks like they're still made... neat trick, but for me its just as simple to unhook the driveshaft from the diff and chain it up to the ch***is then go
I rent a trailer, however, my Uncle (by marriage) use to tow his race car (roadster) with his Model A truck back in the 40's going to Bakersfield. Coming back, the truck didn't have enough "beans" to pull the "g****vine", so he hopped in the roadster and pushed the truck up the hill, his brother driving.
Here they are, A little dirty, but lots of miles and still rolling smooth. With a spool and a 513 gear they were a life saver.
i have a pair with dual bolt patterns (big/little gm) and a heavy duty tow bar if anybody's interested...
have towed a lot of cars, be sure the vehicle you toe hes a good front end, if worn or ovt of line or etc. it might not straighten out after a turn. have had to stop and straighten out wheels on a couple well used cars.
They probably were bored or wanted to checkout the vehicle he was towing if it was an old car. A lot of CHP like old cars, they always wave at me and give me thumbs up..... just glad they don't pull me over and ask questions, why yes officer all Model A(s) are registered just as a Model A and no cl***ification of body style was needed for the registration hahaha. This here car was once a coupe/roadster/ now a roadster pickup Sent from a blue room in the oilfields of Bakersfield using the TJJ mobile app
Flat towed many vehicles over the years. Always felt save and double checked everything. Yup, don't back up unless you absolutely have to, then check everything before you go on. Back in the 70's Me and a buddy of mine broke down up in Maine, about 60 miles from home. Called my brother to swing by my house, grab the tow bar, and come and get us. There were two of us in an VW kit car called a Bradley GT. It was my first car project, broke down all the time. When my Brother showed up he already had another guy in the cab. Since there were 4 of us now that had to get home, my buddy and I just rode in the Bradley. Right on down the Maine Pike. Went by more than one Trooper and they never gave us more than a p***ing glance. Probably would not get away with that today.
My insurance man said if I tow my Comet on a trailer it is covered by my truck insurance but if it was flat towed it needed insurance of it's own.
