Building a 46 Chevy pickup for a buddy of mine. Truck will have a blueprint 383/auto. I see there are tons of different brands out there but wondering if anyone with one of these trucks recommends a certain brand.

  2. Used a Walker in one of those once. Expensive but great product. JHRS bought Walker Radiator.

I’ve used Brice Thomas/US radiator as well. Worked great

I’ve had good luck with old walkers as well. Was wondering if there’s a good aluminum unit out there.

  4. I've been a big proponent of Walker for years and yes they are expensive, recently when I had a accident in the Ranch Wagon and damaged the Walker Radiator I called Johnson's, I just thought Walkers were expensive.

I was able to get my Walker radiator recored locally, do you have the '46 Chevy truck radiator, ou may be able to have it recored. HRP

  5. Brice Thomas makes a high quality aluminum with stamped tanks.
Looks better than the welded tanks

I had a recored a '37 Chevy truck radiator for a while, had the shop add a pressure cap to it. I used a 3 lb cap, everytime it went from cold to hot, I could hear the top tank expand. Every time it expanded, it flexed the solder joint. Once a year it needed removed to get the solder joint fixed. It was replaced with an Afco aluminum radiator. The Afco was a glued type, not fully welded, it started to seep at one corner. I cleaned the area with soda blaster, and brake cleaner, then used panel bonding epoxy pored over the joint. Its still holding going on four years but I can still smell hot coolant. The Afco is 14 years old, it might get changed out this year for a fully welded aluminum. The aluminum cools much better then the original recored brass did, plus it added coolant due to the bigger tubes and rerouted lower hose.
