I grew up right at the tail end of the vinyl records heyday and the birth of CD's. No one in my family ever listened to any music when I was a kid. I came home from work one day when I was about 19 and the next door neighbor was setting a bunch of stuff on the curb including an old turntable, stereo, speakers and two HUGE boxes of records. When I asked what was going on the guy told me 'we just found out mom has cancer, the doctor says she's got about six months left............if you want any of this stuff take it or it's going in the trash'. I scooped up the records and stereo stuff and brought them into my house. The records just sat collecting dust for a while and then one day I happened upon a used records store downtown. I sold some of the stuff, the rest I told him he could have and that was the end of it...............or not. I kept thinking about that used record store............I couldn't put my finger on it but for some reason it just seemed like a really cool place. I started stopping by there once in a while but I never really bought much (I'm surprised the guy didn't tell me to get the hell out and not come back). Fast forward about fifteen years and cruising the HAMB one day I came across a post with a photo of 'The Big Sounds Of The Drags!' album. I immediately searched ebay, found and bought one. Since then I've amassed a small but cool (at least I think so) collection of Hot Rod related stuff (and some others).
