This is an issue on 40's as well and always requires a lot of tweaking and adjustment of pivots etc to eliminate gaps. One of the toughest jobs on a 40 to get right.

That's the way it worked in the 1st generation Ford Louisville LT 9000s I drove. With the wind off the right front quarter and the driver's side wing window open, there was very little noise. With the wind off the left front quarter, there was a lot of noise from the driver's side wing window.

Being 77,so now and then a "A" to a"Q" brings me back to the fact that not everyone has the same background.
As I grew up never had AC in anything, tell college class room and some stores downtown. As for cars,my Dad got a used Lincoln he got with AC in it,wow !. The vents in it were electric,so those tiny vents were so funny to me,only about 4in. wide, yet were electric anyway. Plus the rear window was also,I had thought only station wagons had that. It did have tiny wind deflectors just ahead of vents.

I have cured vent window whistle by running a real thin bead of clear silicon , on the rubber weatherstrip ; right at the point of contact .

danny, keep us posted on the wind noise. I am working on 56 country sedan wagon and always was going to your wagon build thread, but I see it is gone. Is there anywhere else that it can be viewed. thanks

Flush glass on today's cars make them a lot quieter. You are going to have some wind noise but you should be able to get rid of the whistling type noises. Sometimes the glass is not cut large enough to engage the seal all the way around and in the corners. A little 3M caulk strip carefully applied is unnoticeable and works well. Don't open the vent window after that, however. (Everything is a tradeoff. )

I've replaced the vent seals on a few that didn't fit as well as stock, and when you closed them, they contacted some spots but not others, causing wind noise. so i took the heat gun out and warmed up the seals real good to "reshape" them to fit better.

I'm afraid Fotki followed Photobuckets led and decided to start charging for their space and without my knowledge blocked me & anyone else the privilege of viewing my photo's , I just recently noticed what had happened.

Fortunately, I saved all the photo's and they are in my albums. HRP

Danny, if you can't find the ones you took off I think the junk 52 Ford 4 door behind the house still has them.

You think that is bad try driving a vehicle that never came from the factory with no door seals with the windows up and no windlace at 60,it was horrible. It had been on the road 18 years and was the first time driven when it was cold enough to close the windows.

I found the original pieces and put them back on the car Wednesday evening and we drive the car to the Galley for the club Christmas party, it was raining pretty hard and it's not far from my house, I also had the heater rubbing I really didn't notice any wind noise, I'll try to check it out again when the weather clears up. We drove the wagon to my sisters house for dinner, I still have wind noise but it doesn't seem as loud, I'll try some of the suggestions next. HRP

By the look of that updated avatar, you've been eating too many beans and holding in the subsequent explosions

I've had a roadster and there is absolutely nothing you can do to lessen the wind noise besides leaving it in the garage. HRP

Crack open the opposite-side rear window about an inch or less. Should reduce vacuum draw on front windows. Racers do this. Shelby opened the top of the entire rear window on 1965 GT350 cars to do same thing.

If it were me, I would just take my hearing aids out. Works when I don't like the "noise" from the passenger seat. If you catch my drift......:DD

I learned how to adjust wing windows from a old body man . You can give a slight twist to pivot to bring glass inward .He would take hold of wing and give it a twist until it seated then road test until he got it right .
