Larry, lets not claim him as an Okie yet... 'sides, if you need me, I've got yer back. Its been 15 years since I've gotten an ass whuppin', and it's been 15 years since I've given one. Either way, I'm due.
Custom Concepts in Oklahoma City look like they do some killer stuff...not sure how close it is to Tulsa
'The Hotrod Garage' in Sand Springs, OK just west of Tulsa. They are a father and son team and crank out some great traditional rods and customs. The father drives a killer '40 Ford. http://www.hot-rodgarage.com/ PS: ....count me in on the ass-whuppin' !!!
I'm too old to fight, but you can play with my dog I think he got lost on the twisty road to Tulsa...
...actually, I'm too old, short, and fat to fight anymore myself...but it's still fun to talk tuff...
If you need some expensive and perfect metal finishing, there is a shop in Cushing, OK that can help you.......if your not in a hurry. Plan on a good 3 month minum wait. He also makes his own hand made reproduction parts for military craft restorations.
...I have to admit it myself,... Talk is cheap and thats all I can afford Hey 3wLarry, I've seen some pics of the coupe. It looks great!!! Maybe I'll run into ya in Owasso sometime, we're there alot.
Sorry I dropped out, I'm looking to find anyone that doesn't mind me checking out what they are doing and lurking around picking up knowledge. I feel like I am all alone out here! There just doesn't seem to be alot of dudes with the same ideas around. I just piss off the chevy truck purists I think.
I'm also looking for not super expensive pinstriping. Oh and I can take an ass whupin with the best of 'em.
Rick Knight does cheap pinstriping in OKC but his lines are kinda fat. I'll try to post his number later today if your interested.
There is a great striper I mat at Starbirds show this year. He is on the H.A.M.B. as "Lil' Toot". He will be doing the shop lettering on my '60 chev PU this spring. e-mail me and I will give you his info. rvavrinak@cox.net
Thanks for the endorsement, Bobby. I can handle everything from striping to airbrush, graphics to illustration, lettering to t-shirt design. Shoot me an email or a PM or call if I can be of service. Lil' Toot Auto Art Works Tulsa, OK 918-832-5959 liltoot1@cox.net http://liltoot3.tripod.com/art
Hey Toot, its good to know pinstripers are around here close. It'll be awhile before I'm ready, but I'm hoping for some pinstriping done on my Double AA when I'm done with it! I saw some of your work at the DS show, and I thought it was great!
Thanks man, I appreciate it. When you get it done, let me know. Have brush, will travel. If you run across me working a show, come up and say hi. Look for me at the Stray Kat 500 in Dewey. I'll be the short, fat, fuzzy one.
See, the kind of work I'm wanting is pretty much whatever your warped mind can come up with. I'm going to be using a green that is similar to the original color, and a silver or grey frame. I'd go with a white or yellow(?) for my colors, and just turn you loose. I'm contemplating a wooden dump bed and deck plating underneath, which'd be great canvas to play with. Anyway, it'll be a year or three before I reach that far!
Anytime Toot. I had fun talking to you and Monkey at the Starbird show. A lot of people get a big head about their talent, but you are down to earth. When is the show in Dewey? My mother-in-law is in Caney, KS so the Wife and kids can visit while I play. BobbyV
Careful Goztrider, there's some scary things locked away in my weird little mind, but I'm sure I can accomidate Stray Kat is the first weekend in May. Check out this recent thread (may search for some older threads too) and pm Mick (straykatkustoms) for more info: [post]166928[/post] Great show put on by a great guy. Lots of traditional rods and sleds, rockabilly music, and a generally good time.
Not sure how I screwed that up, but that did't link to the right thread. Try this instead. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166928
We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. I'd probably shoot the base color, then do the pin striping. After its all done, then shoot the clear to protect it all. Anyway, this is all academic until then! Either way, I'm excited!
I don't know what your experience is with paint, but if your need me to, I can layout the flames or even shoot them for you if you need. Do alot of that, and I know a few tricks to seal those pinstripes under the clear. I know it's down the road, just putting the bug in your ear. Here's a few of my recent flame jobs:
